Did anyone figure out how to do Shaved Ice?

Hey - I know awhile back a few people were tossing around the idea of shaved ice at the reception. I was wondering if anyone booked a vendor??

Thanks

Hi! We ultimately had shave ice at the wedding! I tried to contact several 'vendors' in the area, and literally no-one got back to me.  Then I talked to Keneke's (our caterer) when we went for our tasting a few days before the wedding and I noticed their shave ice machine in the window...I asked if it was transportable and he said he would be happy to provide it (and bring it out as a surprise for the guests).......it cost an additional $200 but it was sooo worth it! My guests were in heaven and he added a little splash of rum to spice it up a bit - uber yummy.  Perhaps your caterer has a machine? It's worth a try to ask!

You could call Waiola's or Shimazu (local shops in Honolulu) to see if you can rent their services for a couple hours.

    Waiola's -- /> (808) 949-2269
    Shimazu -- /> couldn't find a phone number, sorry!

My fiancee's sister had Waiola's come a few years ago to the Royal Hawaiian to do shave ice during the cocktail hour, since it was hot.

I am planning to do the same and have shave ice for cocktail hour... I'm getting the shave ice through my caterer, and it'll be $225 for 2 hours.

I would recommend it as a cocktail hour item, because that's when the guests will really appreciate it, since it will probably be the hottest at that time of day.  Nighttime snack is fine, but Hawaiian nights are usually more breezy and cool...

    Good luck!

my cousin just had a grad party, it was a hit throughout the night and we rented a machine from CJ's...it was pretty cheap at 40 bucks a day and you can also get supplies from them too. not too sure about if they can do it for you...my FI did the manual labor hehe.  :) the syrups from CJ's was pretty good too they make their own.

I am going through a company called Temp Tatz. They are about $200 for a few hours. They are going to be present before the ceremony and during the cocktail hours. I'll have some reviews for you after July 23rd. :)
