NWR: Omg girls!

A while back, I posted about a job possibility I had OOT. FI was not really thrilled but said we would do what we could. The company it was with has branches all over the state (and country for that matter) and I literally dreamed of working for them. However, the OOT location never sceduled an interview with me, so I made a few phone calls to the two local branches we have near us.

Make a long story short, the manager for a branch 45 mins away immediately wanted an interview with me. I had 2 rounds of interviews and yesterday, I was offered a position with them!!!! It's bigger than I ever imagined too... I'm getting paid WAY more than I expected, and will be responsible for a massive project.

The company I have been with for the past three years has been hell. I so badly want to run into my bosses office right now and flip him the bird, but I guess I should probably give him two weeks. I think I am happier to be getting out of here than I am to get a new job lol.

Anyway, thanks to all the girls who gave T&P in regards to the OOT dilema I was having. Its amazing how things can change!!! I hope this gives some of you ladies with job situations, or who have FI's in job situs, some hope!!!!

  • Cowgirl, the second I saw the tittle of your post on the list I thought "OMG did she get the job????"   I'm soooo sooo excited for you!  And even more excited it's only 45 minutes away so no straining on you and FI as far as location goes.  Does this mean you won't have to deal with your frienemy too who thinks he knows everything?  That would be awesome!  Wish you the best of luck in your new job.  When do you start?
  • Yay! Congratulations!!!!! =]

  • Thanks girls! em105, I nearly fell on the ground when he told me what they want to pay me. I was thinking I was going to have to negotiate something so that I can make ends meet. What they offered is tens of thousands more than what I make now. Insane!

Hahah Volley I knew you would see this! The company is involved in the dairy industry so I had to ask them if I had to cut ties with the farm I work for and they said no I could do what I want. So that means I will only have to see that frenemy if I feel like it! He was very upset to hear I will be leaving the farm though, because now HE is the only experienced person working there and will have to do absolutely everything! HAW HAW! But def goes to show that you and your FI will rally thru the tough patch you are in and it will be all worth it in the end!

  • Woohoo, congrats on the awesome news! Very exciting! :)

Congratulations!!!!  As someone who recently left an awful job with awful management (and am currently in the process of filing a small claims lawsuit to get my last two paychecks they have stiffed me...) and now work for my dream company making far more money, let me tell you - it's AWESOME!!!!!  Enjoy every minute of it.  Give your two weeks, then hang out on TK or play Monopoly online while you get paid for being there (said with the voice of experience!).

In my situation, my FI and I moved 1500 miles away to live with my parents so that we could afford for me not to work while he studies for the bar.  So yes, I moved 1500 miles just so that I could quit that job, expecting to take on odd jobs or babysitting when I got up here.  Two weeks before I left, I sent a letter of introduction to a temp agency near my parents' house, hoping to network with them and get some secretarial hourly work - a few days here, maybe a week there, etc.  Well, within two hours of my email, they called me and asked me to interview for my dream job - a long term, full time temp-to-hire position at my absolute dream company (one of the top 100 places to work in the country, according to numerous surveys).  I interviewed on Skype, and so when I arrived at my parents' on May 20th, I started my new job on Monday May 21st!!!  We're able to save 50% of my salary outright because we're living with my parents, and my FI doesn't have to worry about finances while he's not working while he studies for the bar.

So sometimes karma is a wonderful thing and everything turns up roses!!!  I hope this job is everything you've dreamed of, and that it feels as good for you to be out of a bad situation as it does for me.  I've lost weight, I sleep better, my skin has cleared up, my stress level is wayyyy down.  GOOD LUCK!!!!

I think this is what I am looking forward to the most. I know my lifestyle is going to change so much. I always comment to my close family how I feel and look like hell all the time because of my current 60 hour week and work conditions. Everyone I run into always tells me "You look tired." Well no crap, I work 12 hour days!!!! I look forward to lookiing and feeling so much better.

Much like your story, I literally made a couple phone calls after I heard nothing from the OOT place. I had no idea it would ever be something this big. The cool part? This will be the first job in three years where I can wear my e-ring. I can't tell you how happy THAT makes me!
  • Yaaaay!  Congrats!

Once upon a time, there was a boy who loved a girl, and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering.
  • Congrats!!!

I completely understand the joy of leaving. I left a job I considered to be HELL (as do the others who work there hahaha) at the end of Jan for the one I have now. I LOVE my new job and my new employers, couldn't be happier!!!
