When to send the STDs?

We are getting married on a Sunday evening in June and after reading the post below about Sunday weddings it got me wondering about how much notice to give our guests.  What are your thoughts?  The majority of our guests will be flying in from all across the country and knowing that June is a busy month for most people I had been planning on mailing them the end of October/early November, does that sound good? Thank you for your advice!

You can send STDs as soon as you know the date.  There's really no formal etiquette for STDs (except that you never send one unless you plan on sending an invite later).

Typically, STD's are sent around 6 to 8 months in advance. If your wedding is over a long weekend, you have a lot of OOTers, or you think people will have a problem with the Sunday evening send them 8 to 9 months in advance.

We're getting married over Columbus Day weekend and sent them 8 1/2 months in advance.

We did ours 10 months in advance since we are getting married in August and wanted people to have it on their radar while making vacation plans.  It's a destination wedding for the majority of my family.

I already sent mine for my June wedding. I know it's early, but it just made sense to finally answer the question of "when's the wedding?" once and for all. That being said, we did NOT send them to our whole guest list - only family and close friends.

We sent ours about 8 months in advance (labor day weekend wedding).

I'd do it as soon as you know for sure that the date you've picked out is the date and there'll be no changes.  However, imho, you send things out too early, despite the idea of the STD, people do in fact forget.  Unless it's a true destination wedding, if it's just to accommodate out-of-towners, I'd send it at the very least 6 months out.

But no matter how early, if folks want to come they will; if not, then a STD won't matter.  We sent ours about 8 months out and still many folks waited until the last minute for flights or baby sitters and lots of folks that we thought and anticipated would come wound up bailing at the last minute.  Just do your best.
