WTF- Really??

So FMIL just sent me an email saying that one of her employees that is coming to the wedding is now bringing her daughter.

Our wedding is 12 days away.

We begin traveling to the wedding in 6, meaning all of my planning needs to be finished before we leave.

I finished the seating chart last night.

FMIL first said 5 of her employees were coming. Fine. Then it was 12- Way more than 5, but we did have a lot of no rsvp's. So okay. THEN it was 17 were coming.

We keep telling her it has to stop, but it's not. This lady that is bringing her daughter is also bringing her mother and sister (who is also an employee). We have never met any of these people.

I'd hate to start sh!t over one little girl, but I'm TERRIFIED she is going to keep doing this sh!t up until the day of the wedding.

Send vibes that when FI gets home he will call her and get through to her- Or else I'll have to add her to my hit list (my mom is already on it) ;p

BLARGH!!!!

  • Oh gosh - nothing worse than a pushy FMIL who doesn't listen. Sorry you're dealing with this crap, I definitely think you need to put your foot down though. Tell her that you've made MORE than enough exceptions for her and it needs to stop NOW, with this lady's daughter.

    Good luck!

  • Believe me- Our feet have been stomping up at down. She will not "uninvite" any of the uninvited people, and we have no way to get ahold of them- I wish we could.

She keeps justifying with "well these family members aren't coming, so these people can come instead." When we tell her we don't care, that we don't want a bunch of strangers at our wedding, she says that she's contributed X amount to the wedding so that it should be okay.

I guess what bothers me the most is that since all of these people are her employees and we only know maybe 3 or 4 is that is feels like they're coming because they feel like they have to because it's the boss's son, that they're trying to suck up to the boss, or that they're just coming because other employees are and they're looking to have a good (free) time.

FMIL won't listen/ cooperate, we technically have room for people, and we're still under the number of people we were planning on. It's just a sucky situation.

Yet again- Going to let FI deal with it.

  • this is so not cool of your fmil and im so sorry this is happening! we got a bunch of no's too but that doesnt mean that the wedding should be filled up with random people!  invitations were sent out and the rsvp deadline has passed.  this is way beyond a b list (which by the way I do not condone a b list!) this is like a z list! your wedding is in 12 days and she is inviting ppl by word of mouth?! omg that is so tacky! not to mention that there are deadlines, etc.  Since she is paying for a portion of it (which means she has some say, not FINAL say!) I would let her know that the rsvp deadline was x date and you are sorry but you cannot accomodate any more.  I know that its just one girl...but it's just one girl right now, with the way her numbers have been jumping, you need to put your foot down asap! good luck! and btw...have your fiance be the bearer of this news...and make sure he sticks to his guns!

  • Your FMIL knows that you wont say no, since you haven't all the other times she completely disregarded your guestlist! It's gonna be hard putting your foot down this late in the game. That's why you nip it in the bud before it gets outta control....

  • Sh#tty, sh#tty, sh#tty.  I feel your pain, I "finalized" things on Sunday and since then someone is bringing a date who wasn't before, someone who was bringing a date isn't anymore, and my FSIL asked if her late husband's parents could come now to help watch our niece.  Just annoying for all the numbers to keep changing!
