Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

Venue trouble

my fiancee and I are having trouble deciding on a wedding and ceremony venue. He likes the idea of getting married in his family church and I prefer an outdoor setting for a rustic italian theme. Any ideas on how we can make our decision or compromise suggestions welcome. Thanks so much or your help

Re: Venue trouble

  • Get married in the family church and have a rustic Italian themed reception.

  • How do you feel about getting married in a church?   Do the two of you plan to attend this church (or any church) after you are married?   Is there someone specific at his church that you want to perform the ceremony?

I prefer outdoor weddings as well (we had one this weekend, and it was AMAZING, we got a ton of compliments, but we also got very lucky with the weather).  They add a level of complexity in your planning because you will need a back-up plan in case of rain or high/low temperatures.   Also, depending on your religion, you may have trouble finding someone to perform your ceremony outdoors (if having a religious ceremony is important to you).

If your fiance has strong ties to his church, then he may feel uncomfortable with an outdoor ceremony if it doesn't meet all of his religious requirements.   This is really something you should talk with each other about and try to find a compromise.  Maybe the rustic-italian-themed reception would work?
