What time is your rehearsal/rehearsal dinner?

Happy Thursday ladies!

Soo question about the rehearsal/rehearsal dinner for those of you doing it..
What time are you doing your rehearsal and your dinner? Are you going straight from rehearsal to the dinner?
I don't want to do it super late because a) It's outside and it will be dark  b)i don't want to keep grandparents and such out late if they have to be up the next day!, but I'm trying to avoid having people need to take time off work in order to get there in time (this would only be like 3 people who need to do this, most people have already offered to take off to help out)

Tell me what's normal, because I clearly do not know :) Thanks!

Our church only gave us the option of having rehearsal at 6 or 7pm. I picked 6pm, and since we'll be using the church reception place for the dinner, I'm guessing that'll start around 6:45 or 7.

My FI and I plan to go out with our parties after the dinner though and celebrate more... Especially since we can't have alcohol at the church lol.

  • I don't think there really is a "normal".  Do whatever works best for you and your WP!  Most of our WP is OOT, so we are doing our rehearsal at 7pm, to try to help accommodate traveling.  Our RD is right after the rehearsal.  Most of the rehearsals I've been to were much earlier than 7, but this is what works best for us :)

  • Our rehearsal is at 6pm with the rehearsal dinner starting at 7:30pm.

  • our rehearsal starts at 5pm and goes until 6. The dinner starts at 6:30 (it's like 10 min. down the street for our ceremony location) -- but our rehearsal is on a Thursday. If it were a Friday i would probably push everything back 1 hour.

  • We are having our RD at our wedding venue.. since that is where the rehearsal will be (obviously) and we have a lot of OOT guests that will be part of the rehearsal, so we figured we better just keep it easy and stay at one location.. plus our venue has awesome food!
The rehearsal is starting at 5, and then when we're done, we are just going to go inside and eat :)

  • So glad you asked this question! I have an idea of a time but really wanted to get everyone else's times. We are thinking of starting at 5:30 or 6 with the dinner right after. Since we have decided to do the dinner at our house I don't want everyone their till super late. The church allows us 2 hours for the rehearsal which we will not be using the full time. Most everyone will be off work already with the except of a few people.
  • My rehearsal starts at 7pm (only time available at church) on night before wedding. Dinner will start at 830pm but the location is a 10 min walk from church.

  • Our rehersal will be around 4:30 or five (on a saturday), dinner will be whenever we are done at the church.

  • Our rehearsal is at 5 and dinner will be at 6.  Almost all of the wedding party will be coming in town thrusday night....so to us we just want to eat at a normal time and be able to get to bed early.

Same idea.. I'm thinking 4:30, dinner when that's done (It's all on-site).  We're also hosting a bonfire by the lake (also on-site) with a Taco Truck (FIs favorite, plus, it'll be the day before Cinco de Mayo) and s'mores, along with a keg and wine, etc.  All guests that come Friday will be invited to that.

I think that'll be starting around 7 or so.  I'm hoping it all runs smoothly, but wouldn't feel too horrible if we miss out on the first bit of the bonfire.

  • I am not decided on a rehersal, per say, yet. But dinner will most likely be at 7 or 7:30 and it's a five minute walk from the hotel.
  • We can't get into the wedding venue the day before (it would be a Friday, and the venue is a champagne bar), so we're doing the rehearsal at the same place as the rehearsal dinner. It will start at 5pm ... parking is limited in the area, and if we wait until "normal" dinner hour, the BP wouldn't be able to find parking.
  • Our rehearsal is at 11:30 am the day before the wedding (the venue is having another event on the property that night).  We debated on doing a rehearsal lunch, but eventually decided we liked the formality of a dinner.  We opted for a 6pm dinner which is early, but works well for the grandparents and just in case anybody decides to drink a little too much, it gives them plenty of time to recover haha.  Also, we're using the time in between the rehearsal and dinner for manis/ pedis for the girls and golf for the boys!

  • My venue is only letting us have the venue for the rehearsal the day before the wedding from 4-5:45. So after that we'll just go to dinner. Dont have plans for the dinner yet..

  • Our rehearsal starts at 5.  I know that it's probably going to take much longer than I expect, and I wanted to make sure we got to dinner by 6:30-7.  I'd really like to be able to relax later that evening since they next day will go by in a flash. :)

  • We cannot book our rehearsal until 2 months out, and there is a good chance we won't get it when we want (around 5).  Our venue books a lot of Friday events... If that is the case, we'll have to do it Thursday or at a weird time on Friday.  Our RD is at 7 most likely.
  • Our rehearsal is at 4 and rehearsal dinner is 5:30. There is a big festival in the town where our wedding is the night of our rehearsal dinner, so we want to get into dinner before the crowds form.

  • Our rehearsal is at 5:00 and then we are heading back to our house for dinner at 7:00.  We are doing a casual backyard BBQ so we aren't too worried if the rehearsal runs a little long.  I just want to make sure we are finished up by about 9:30...not really wanting a late night.  :)
