Also, it's amazing that a few sips could be considered "alcohol ingestion overdose" I mean, it's overdose for a kid of course, but i didn't think those had that much alcohol in them. wow.
babies being served alcohol + air traffic controllers dropping the ball = the world is going to crap
Yea it really makes you wonder wth is going on with restaurants these days and if they are messing up drinks, then what could they possibly be doing to the food?
I think the parents need to be paying more attention!
"ABC reports that ERJ Dining, the owner of Chili's, claims that the girl was served fruit punch and it was the mother that was served the alcohol drink."
But the mother claimed that she ordered her child a chocolate milk.
I would not have allowed my child to take a sip of that until I checked it. it even looks like an alcoholic drink. (pic taken by mother or drink and replacement shake.)

Agreed b/c aren't most kids drinks served in a cute plastic cup with a sippy straw on top? Obviously it should have registered with the bartender that a mudslide doesn't get poured into a child's cup.
I wonder if mom is thinking of being lawsuit happy???
To our knowledge, Ms. Davis and her daughter ordered a kids' drink (red fruit punch) and a chocolate shake. The fruit punch beverage was served to Brooklynn in a plastic kid cup with a lid and straw. The beverage Ms. Davis received was served in glass barware.

Maybe. A lot of things just don't add up. But on either side.
Guys, I worked in a restaurant for three years during college and until I got my first "big girl" job. The first time I served a child a chocolate milk shake, it turned out to be a mudslide.
Turns out not a lot of people order mudslides like they order beers or teas, and when I saw the chocolate shake with whipped cream and a cherry on top in the bar window, I assumed it was for my table.
My trainer forgot to tell me that virgin drinks have red straws, and that alcoholic drinks have black straws. Coulda happened to anyone.
Luckily the kid's parents were more than understanding and after I apologized profusely and basically wanted to die, they left me a generous tip and got the kid, who told his parents that his shake "tasted gross," his real shake for free.

And I wonder what the repercussions of this will be. This is the third time this has allegedly happened.
If I worked at a restaurant and I heard of this happening more than once, I'd change my policies before it happened to me and my restaurants.

A mother and son got pedicures at Dashing Diva the other day while I was there. The lady next to me rolled her eyes when they left and said she couldn't believe she was getting her son a pedi. I said "well, I assume he wanted one". He seemed to pick out his own color. There were two other mothers there with their daughters, all around the same age (7 or so). I don't see what the big deal is.

When I was a bartender at a national chain, it was my responsibility that nothing like that ever happened. Hell, i could have 2 identical looking taps sitting and It was my job to make sure they were properly marked for service.

Even our bartenders would make the mistake once in a while with the mudslides - and put a red straw in instead of a black one. But that didn't matter, as long as the server took care to know who they were serving to.
I get the mudslide mistake. MAYBE sangria, and that's an enormous maybe. I cannot for the life of me understand how you could accidentally give a four year old a margarita, though.
I have never seen a kid not served out of a plastic cup with a lid at Chilis. I think this is drummed up drama and the mom is playing off other recent events. I call MUD on this whole situation.
I worked a chain restaurant and shakes were never made in sippy cups.
I read this one and it sounds fake. It just seems weird that it's happening this often. At one restaurant, the other night actually, I saw a parent allowing the kid to drink his beer. Wtf?
Not to make too much light of a bad situation but I can't help thinking of all the crazy shiz I did while underage to get alcohol and these TODDLERS are getting it with no problem. WTF?

Yes, I've also heard it's the labeling of the drinks that confuses people at chain restaurants. Pouring a margarita into a sippy cup isn't hard if it's sitting next to the apple juice machine and all the containers look alike.
But damn, why do I never get served alcohol accidentally?
I'm starting to think it's a lot of bait and switch to get some cash. A few occurrences, maybe, but not this many.
