Are you a 2-dress bride? Did you buy one dress, but found another that you like better?

Hi Knotties,

I'm asking questions for our upcoming issue that's all about fashion. Because of this,  I'll be posting three polls on this board. Thanks in advance for answering!

Re: Are you a 2-dress bride? Did you buy one dress, but found another that you like better?

  • With all the money I'm spending on my dress I definitely want to wear it the entire evening. I also love big ball-gown type dresses so I wouldn't want to change into a smaller slinky number anyways.
  • I did not wear two dresses on my wedding day, but did purchase two. The first one was at the Running of the Brides, and sadly, I found it later on that it had some fit issues that couldn't be fixed! I wound up purchasing a different gown to wear for the wedding.
  • I was going to be untill I found the perfect dress for me that is lightweight, and trainless. Now I don't have to worry about a reception dress for my outdoor June wedding
  • I want to change into a short, sexy number halfway through the reception.  I just ordered my dress though, and I love it so maybe I'll reconsider.
  • Never even crossed my mind.  Loved my dress and specifically did not want a white strapless bedazzled ballgown.

  • I the wedding is only for one night, I don't see the point of having 2 dresses.

  • Hell no for either meaning of the term.  I didn't change my mind and buy a second dress after I bought the first, because 1) I knew pretty much exactly what I wanted, 2) I stopped looking after I purchased it, and 3) it's just a dress, it's not the end of the world.

And as far as wearing two different dresses in the same day, I think it's the height of silliness.  I already think it's silly to spend that much money on something you're only going to be wearing 6-8 hours, but for something you're only going to be wearing for 1-2?  Outrageous.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I should clarify this. A 2-dress bride is a bride who buys one dress and finds another that she like more later and then buys another. Sorry for the mix-up!

  • Not at all. Even though the dress I bought wasn't the style I originally thought I wanted, the moment I put it on (and didn't want to take it off again!) I knew it was the right dress. I didn't intentionally go shopping again but still saw other dresses at bridal shows, in magazines, and when I was shopping with my mother for her dress - and I didn't see anything that tempted me at all or shook my confidence in my dress in the least.
  • No way.  Tried on about 100 to find the right one, but the one I'm buying is the one & only.  Then I stopped looking.  Can't imagine the financial or emotional impact of changing my mind.

  • Nope, I'm totally and completely in love with my dress...seriously, FI is going to have a very difficult time getting me out of it.
  • I was a 2 dress bride.  I found the "one" after attempting to get my original dress altered as I lost 15 pounds.  I also lost my job, so it was a very difficult decision.  But I had waited a really long time to walk down that aisle, the 2nd dress was less expensive and looked so much better!  So I used my savings for the dress and sold the first one!
  • i only found one dress i like the whole time i was researching. went out and tried on that one dress and bought it on the spot.
