Foxtrot with your dress?

My fiance and I have been taking dancing lessons and will be dancing foxtrot and swing at our wedding. I suddendly realised that I am already terrified of stepping on my dress walking down the aisle, how will I ever manage dancing the foxtrot when most of the steps are stepping behind! Now, my dress has a bustle, but even still, it drags on the floor. What if HE steps on my dress (and breaks the bustle, or tears the dress off me!)
Am I worrying too much? Are you worried about that too?

I'll be dancing too, and I'm going to get the bustle high enough that I can do what I have to. Talk to your dance instructor about what your most difficult steps will be, and make sure you can do them in your dress.

I may have to add a second bustle in that case... Thanks for your advice. I'll be talking with the dance instructor tonight and see what she has to recommend too. We worked so hard on our dance, I wouldn't want it to be ruined by me dropping to the floor with my dress torn off!

Yeah, you can't dance with that bustle. For dancing, as long as the dress isn't dragging on the floor, you shoudl be fine (hence, you need a higher bustle). But him or someone else stepping on it is definitely a possibility, so maybe have someone carry some safety pins just in case the bustle gets pulled off. I have heard of it happening.

There is a cord where the bustle is, maybe I'll pick it up and loop it around my finger so the dress doesn't drag, that could be heavy very quickly though...
Thank goodness it's only a 3 minute song.
I spoke with the instructor and she was mainly concerned about my heel getting caught in the dress when I step back. It is standard foxtrot. She highlighted making sure I drag my feet instead of picking them up.

Maybe I'll just wear my crinoline and practice with it on, when it's just the two of us that is, haha!

If nothing else, maybe you can pin a bedsheet over your crinoline. It doesn't have to look nice, it just has to feel similar.

You really need to do multiple bustles witht that dress, my dress is going to need a few bustles too but its worth it because someone is going to step on that and it may be you if you do a foxtrot in that. Good Luck

I'd definitely be concerned about that bustle. People are going to step on you all night, regardless of whether you're able to work your choreography. I wouldn't want to spend my whole night guarding by backside.
