Facebook Annoyances

Since I'm exra stabby today I thought we could list our "favorite" things about facebook..and by favorite I mean most hated

1.) Calling your wife "wifey": When I think of "wifey" I think of rap music and it's definition to "wifey".A wifey is a GF, not the woman you married.
2.) Ending every status update with I LOVE YOU [insert name]!!!! We know you love your S/O, your facbook would not say "In a Relationship with.." or "Married to..." if you didn't.
3.) Having more than 5+ self photos of you making different faces. Also, I think I'm being very generous by saying 5
4.) Having 30% of your albums full of above.
5.) TMI staus updates: I don't need to know your whole thought process of what your going to do after graduation, nor do I want to know that you have major cramps.

1) Being overly public about your relationship on FB -- you know with the I

So-and-So in the status or the constant "I love yous" or something similar on their wall. Oh and kissing FB pictures.

Or maybe I'm just bitter because BF and I don't do this. Not that I ever would--I'm shy and that's personal.

2) Conversations in statuses, especially ones that get to be 20 comments or more.

3) Internet memes that are just copied and pasted as opposed to actually considered and researched. For example, the illegal immigration one TwinsRib submitted for discussion over the weekend, and the Special Education "week" that went on for 2 months.

4) Farmville/Mafia Wars/etc. Yes, I do play a game on FB, but I don't post story after story after story about it. My mom's wall is almost exclusively posts from one of these games.

5) Speaking of my mom -- people who don't understand the concept of internet security. She helped me move to my new apartment, and in the process of taking pictures, got my address plate from the front of my apt in one. And posted it on the internet. PS -- about 75% of my mom's FB friends are people she's never met.

6) Having most of your FB friends be people you've never met. Or people you're spoken to once or twice five years ago and are just adding them so you can have more FB friends.

7) I've noticed a cropping up of public events for weddings on FB lately. Or at least for the receptions...and what seems like tiered receptions. Like "come join us after dinner so we can party all night!" sorts of things. Classy.

Hahaha. These things made me laugh.

1) I do put an ode to the significant other in each of my statuses, but i never come out and say it

2) we have a bunch of pictures of us taking pictures and making faces, but we never hit the "publish" button... so they dont pop up in everyone's newsfeed.

3) as for that mafia/farmville game. I wish it didn't exist. I get an invite for it every freaking day. I think that's the most annying thing to me.

4) I can't stand it when people update their statuses 10993094830 times a day. 'I'm going to wal mart" "i'm going to class" "i'm going to the bathroom" ... more or less "i'm going to stab you in the face if you dont stop updating".

5) people liking their own statuses or posts. No kidding? You like your own post? Would you post something you didn't like?

6) People who post rather slutty pictures online. Dear lord, keep it professional. I do not want to see a picture of a guy basically screwing you in your picture. that kind of worrys me. Same goes for drunken pictures

1) People that "fan" every friggin page they come across. One of my FB buddies recently fanned "I'm typing >> I see you typing >> I delete everything" and "giving people code names so they don't know you're talking about them". The only random thing I actually "fanned" was "not being murdered by clowns", but I think that's a pretty valid thing to be a fan of.

2) Anyone under the age of 18 being on FB at all. One of my younger cousins (whom I love and adore) is on FB and she friend requested me. I don't want to be the bad cousin and not accept her friend request, but I also don't necessarily need a 13 year old to whom I am a role model seeing pictures of me drinking in a bar at ricky's bach party. Subsequently, she's a friend, but she's blocked out of the majority of my page.

3) People who create drama on FB. Nothing like watching a catfight go down via FB status updates.

4) FB stalkers. I have a former close friend who decided to delete me, ricky, and a few of our mutual friends off her friend list to make the point that she was no longer friends with us (very long story). She, however, remained friends with my FI. The only reason any of us can think of as to why she did this was that she could still keep tabs on me this way. I wish I could say I was being vain in saying that, but I'm not...she's just that kind of person.

5) If one more person invites me to Mafia Wars or Farmville, I might have to stab them in the face.

6) People who have no filters on their FB pages, then complain about it biting them in the arse. I have work colleagues, professors, etc. as friends on FB, but they're blocked out of my wall, my photos, etc. I have a friend that posted pics of her at a music video shoot on her FB and her advisor saw them and she nearly got booted from her academic program for improper behavior. If there's something you feel might not reflect positively on you in a work or career situation, perhaps you should a) not post it at all, or b) at least limit the people who can see it.

7) People who updated their statuses every 2 minutes, post love letters to their SOs every 5 minutes, and brag about their kid every 10. There are websites named after you guys. They're called STFU Marrieds and STFU Parents.

Lindsay - I just HAD to comment on #6 - an ex-friend of mine, who has 2 beautiful daughters - had a photo album of her kids and then when I clicked on another album it was filled with the most disgusting, obscene pictures you could imagine - I just don't understand what you would be thinking to post those things ONLINE for EVERYONE to see!?!? Ugh.

My top 10

#1) Love notes as status updates - "I love you so-and-so" , "Blissfully in love with such-and-such" I want to shoot myself.

#2) Farmville and Mafia Wars. If I get one more request I swear to god.....

#3) Commeting that you don't like seeing my feed updates (yes I play bejewlled blitz when I'm bored. No I don't post that I won 75 million points or whatever.) If you don't want to see it click on it and hit "Hide" then you won't see it.

#4) People who join cutey groups like "10 ways you know your relationship's will last"

#5) People whose posts are riddled with spelling errors

#6) FB drama. I don't care if you un-friended her, don't use me to try and get updates about her.

#7) Constant updates. I don't need to know that you just "went home, had a shower, went pee, fed the dog, brushed my hair, brushed my teeth..." etc etc etc. Eff off.

#8) "Well I sent you an invite on Face Book!!" THAT IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR TELLING ME ABOUT SOMETHING. I DO NOT LIVE ON FACEBOOK, PICK UP THE DAMN PHONE!

#9) Filters. No one sees my pictures unless I want them to. No one sees my wall unless I want them to. It's not hard, figure it out.

#10) Groups I belong to sending out messages to the ENTIRE GROUP every day or every few days. SO annoying!

1) Status that are all about how someone hates drama and is waiting for karma to bite someone in the behind. They pop up constantly and they're always posted by the biggest drama queens i know.

2) the fact that facebook lets me post comments on my friends pictures when I've been drinking, I really wish it wouldn't.

3) The obsessive posts of all the soon to be moms on my list freaking out eveytime the baby moves and letting everyone know every five seconds that they can't wait to meet the unborn spawn. (really?) Even more annoying when these statuses contain the phrase baby's daddy.

I KNOW!! I have one girl who always puts "so sick of drama" and it always makes me want to put a status about how drama doesn't happen if your not looking for it but I dont want to start drama. She is also the person who ALWAYS started stuff in HS. Her other status' include "yer SO stupid".. I went to look for more but apparently she deleted me as her friend...NOOOOOO!

My annoyances... in no particular order...

The misuse of there/they're/their
If you are old enough to use facebook, you should be old enough to know the differences between those words. Don't get me wrong, we all make mistakes. Sometimes these mistakes include using the wrong form of they're/there/their. But if you clearly don't know the differences between the meanings of those words, then get the hell off of facebook and go back to studying for school, you dumbass.

I'm happy they're happy, but now their updates are boring...
Two of my friends, two totally cool, nice people started going out. Now all they update are comments for and about each other. Oh, I remember the good old days (last week) when they actually had lives that didn't revolve completely around each other. His last 7 updates/activities are to or about her. He used to have.. interests... a personality. Now, he's kind of annoying and she's creepy.

Drama City
People who post, "I hate everyone, espcially you! You know who you are! You were my bff and now it's all ruined. I will never trust anyone ever again. I don't want to talk about it so no one call me tonight!"

Tween Drama City
People who post, "i h8 every1 espshully u! U no who u r! u wer mah bff and now its all runed. i will nevr trust any1 evr agin i dont wanna to talk abowt it so no 1 call me tonite!"

Ironic Facebook Groups
Such as:
-Lern how to spell on faceboook!
-This is america, lern english!

In my day we had Rocko's Modern Life and Ren & Stimpy and You Can't Do That on Television and other things from the 80's and early 90's that don't exist anymore! *likes*
No. No you didn't. You're 12. You weren't even born yet.
Maybe you were around for the reruns, but not the original airdates. That's like me saying I was around for D!ck Van Dyke and I Love Lucy.

1.I hate commenting on someones status or picture and then getting 75 million emails saying someone else commented, if I cared I would go look at what they said.

2. I have one friend who recently had a baby and her mom posted pictures of her in labor, that was WAY more than I wanted to see on facebook.

3. Another friend who also recently gave birth and split with the father has several status updates per day crying over him and then one that says she's over it and going to be strong...and then right back to crying again.

4. Spelling errors drive me nuts, a stutus with missing words drives me crazy sometimes I want to post and tell them the learn to spell.

5. Lastly, I hate seeing barebelly pictures of pregnant people that show way too much, your belly is fine, but i don't want to see most of your boob exposed on facebook, and I really don't care how *cute* you think you are.

Oh and I forgot, I don't like peoples ultrasounds of their little alien spawn as their default picture, can you tell I have a lot of pregnant friends on facebook?

I'm afraid someone would see the ering and then come after me for it and cut my finger off. Kind of like telling fb people your OOT and then someone robs you. Call me paranoid.

I'm tired of my friend talking about his baby all the time. Just when I've had enough with his status updates about his baby. He'll IM me and talk about how his baby is 2 months old. Chat bothers me in general, I only like talking to BF on it so 99% of the time when a chat comes up I'm annoyed..

Um, Paige, not to rain on your parade, but I totally think I should be president.

But I'll settle for VP, as you have wisdom and experience over me.

Also, I'm all for the Bitter, Un-Married, Childless Hags Club. Of course, married ladies are welcome too, as I'm all for inclusion and equal opportunity. Because as we know, we're all hags whose BFs/FIs/DHs you should feel sorry for because we suck in bed.

A girl who was in the same program as me in college just had a baby. She decided that it was appropriate to post a picture of herself on the delivery table, with the doctor above her, holding the freshly squeezed baby.... umbilical cord still attached!!!

That photo pushed any childbearing plans I may have had back another 5 or 6 years...

The Bitter, Un-Married, Childless Hags don't want to see your placenta-y, just born baby pictures either. We'll gladly wait until he or she is cleaned up and cute. Preferably with one of those adorable nursery beanies.
