What's a reasonable cost for the photographer?

Can you ladies give me a ballpark of price?  Does it include e-pics, or any add-ons?  Or an album/cds with rights?  Just trying to get an idea of what is reasonable since it seems it really is a big range.  TIA!

This is hard to say, because it depends on the quality and what you're looking for. Some photography companies charge a lot of money, because they are in high demand and very talented. Others, just getting into the wedding field, will be much less expensive because they are not in high demand, and may or may not be talented.

I'd say that the average rate for a photog in CT for decent quality for about 6-8 hours with some prints and a disc included is between 2500-3500. I may be very off though :)

It definitely depends on the photographers experience, demand for them, and the package you're choosing. You can get a photographer and only have them there to take pictures and then give you a disc and that would be cheaper. Some photographers include albums and even the albums given can range from $200-$2000 for the album alone. So it is hard to say. The photographer I choose came to $4000. He has a base price and then whatever add-ons you want you can pick. For example, my $4000 photographer includes 2 photographers all day, a disc with all the prints, a leather album, and an e-session. There's so many different add-ons you can do, though, that your price can really be anything.

And, of course, I talked to other people and they got the same package as I did for $2000-$3000, so it really depends on the photographer and his experience.

I am paying 1200$ for an engagement session and 4 hours of photography on the day of. I am having a very short ceremony on site and then a four hour reception, so this is the best choice for my wedding and my budget.

I paid $2750 for Visual Obsession and I got:

-Konrad & Piotr for the WHOLE day (not a set amount of hours)
-An engagement session, they called it "Night Escapades"
-700+ high-res images on CD with reprint rights
-700+ low-res images on CD for FB/web posting
    -DVD slideshow

I've heard they've raised their prices slightly, but I still think they are an incredible value and I'd re-book them in a second.

To kind of piggyback off the original question... how important is it to have 2 shooters instead of one? Do most photographers work with a videographer, or are those usually two separate vendors?

My photographer was more expensive than all those listed (Studio1923) but we aren't using a videographer so it was important to us to splurge.  He takes enough pictures where he could pretty much create a video with them.  I had experience with him in the past as he was my cousin's wedding photographer 3 years ago and she continues to use him to photograph her 2 children.  He is very very very very talented and sees the most amazing shots.  It's things you would never think of.  Our package includes:  engagement session with about 50 pics enhanced which he then turns into a bound guestbook, all rights to photos, 2 photographers the day of (I don't think there's a set number of hours), wedding pictures enhanced, and a wedding album.  I'm sure there's more but I can't think of it off the top of my head.  He's there for everything, if you need a safety pin, your dress bustled, etc.  We've had our engagement pictures done with him and he makes you very comfortable and uses them as a way to get to know you and your relationship so that he can get the best pictures at your wedding.  It's like a trial run for him.  In my eyes, he is worth every penny.

Sorry if I was confusing.  As far as I know he doesn't do videos.  What I meant was that he takes so many pictures and captures every little detail that we didn't feel the need to have a videographer that does the same thing but puts it in motion.  You get all the rights to his pictures and he chooses to enhance them in a way that "tells a story" of your wedding day.  If you have any other questions feel free to ask!  I could go on all day about how wonderful Jerome and his wife Jen are!
