Re: anyone ever successfully stopped taking cymbalta?

  • Do you have a sedative or something to take the edge off?  Sedatives have really helped me when changing doses, etc.  I am on Lexapro and have been on Zoloft and always have side effects when I increased.  I know what it's like to have the foggy brain and feel like words and thoughts are just bouncing around and that your brain is on fire.  My side effects all went away though.  I would highly recommend calling your doctor and getting a sed to get you through the hard times!
  • i have xanax. i also have other stuff i take before bedtime but i can't do any of that when i'm at work.
  • I use Klonapin when I need a sed and if I cut 1mg in half or even in 1/4's it works to calm me down but doesn't knock me out like a full pill would.  I don't know what you do but it helped me keep my sanity at work without breaking down!
  • I've taken low dose Amitryptaline for a year or so now for tension headaches, but it's also an old anti-depressant.  I've missed pills for several days at a time (forgot to take them with me when traveling), and not had any side effects except an increase in headaches.

I actually stopped taking it on my own a few weeks ago because I don't want to be on medication all the time.  I've been working on meditation, telling my sister off when appropriate (she's a huge stressor for me), and regular massage to prevent the headaches and so far - it's going really well.

Different med, but maybe worth asking about?
