Wedding Party

Groomsmen Attire

Our wedding is very relaxed and I feel a tux would be too formal for the event. I really would like the groom and groomsmen to wear suits instead of renting a tux. Can I ask them to buy a suit? If so, can I ask them to find there own suit that fits their budgets but in a certain color?

  • I don't think you can ask them to buy a suit.  Suits are really expensive.  You can, however, ask them to rent suits, and you can definitely ask that they be in a specific color.

I think the last option is fine.  Just tell them to find a [black/grey/khaki] suit and go from there.  That gives them the option of borrowing one, looking on eBay or at thrift stores, or just buying a new one, depending on their budget.  Just make sure you give them as much lead time as possible because there can be a lot of leg work involved, especially if their budgets are tight.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

Men's store Jos A. Bank runs some really good sales and they sell suits. Sometimes they even have buy one get two free. The first suit might cost $400-$500 but if three guys go in together it could turn out to be a really good deal. The quality is pretty good, they would all match if you wanted, and getting a nice suit for under $200 is a steal.
