I never looked into L'affaire, but Costa Del Sol was our runner-up choice for our reception hall.

We liked its looks and the value we would've been getting. They were flexible with the pricing and the menu options ... the menu seemed fairly seafood-heavy, which we weren't thrilled with, but it wasn't by any means bad and they seemed willing to switch some things out. The cocktail hour wasn't as large as some other places were offering us, but they still offered a good amount of food.

That glass ballroom outside was really nice and different, and we thought it was neat that cocktail hour could be outside in good weather, although it's kind of a small space and I think you can see the street from there. We thought it'd be too small for our guest list, which is the main reason why we didn't wind up booking there.

We're actually going to a christening party there next month.

I have been to L'Affaire several times for MH's company holiday parties. The cocktail hour food is very good, but the entrees I remember being dry. It's also directly on Route 22 and I'm almost positive there aren't any spots for pictures on the property (in case that is important).

I just was at L'Affaire and have been many times.  I was quite impressed- nice big spacious room and the food was actually really delicious.  Our dinners were tasty.  I know the price is great there also.  Good luck!

Reilly 626 - Wow! 3 days to go!!!!! You must be ecstatic!!
    And thank you rlb.

mbcdefg - do you remember if they said how many people the glass ballroom would hold? It looks so small in the internet tour. And do they have cocktail hour in a separate room?

I want to say that the ballroom can hold about 150 people, but I'm not 100% sure. We were inviting 160 so we thought that'd be cutting it close, so we passed on this venue (although we only had 120 show up and it would've been fine ... hindsight is 20/20 :P).

I also want to say that there is no separate room for cocktail hour, so if it rains and you can't go outside then everything is in one room, and if that's true then we didn't like that option either. There is another ballroom inside the main building, so perhaps if it's not booked on your wedding day they could do it there?

Sorry, my memory's a bit fuzzy since it was over a year ago and I don't carry my little wedding notebook with me anymore. We DID like the place a lot, though, I remember that much.

If I remember right, Costa del Sol has a pavilion like room that they use for cocktail hours in rain.  But because they will book that room for picnics and afternoon affairs, you can't start your cocktail hour until 6 or 7.  I really want to say 7 because I remember it being really late - especially if we had an early ceremony, but I could be wrong.

I don't remember how many the room held.  They do have a seafood heavy menu because it's a Portuguese place.
