Attn DIY Alcohol Brides

We purchased some wine that we didn't care for from the Sam's Club in North Richland Hills. I have read on every wedding message board from TK to Weddingbee that unopened bottles can be returned, so we figured taking it back would be no big deal.

We just attempted to return it and were told that "it is a state law in Texas that alcohol can not be returned unless it is defective and even the must only be exchanged for the same item."

We called three other Sam's Clubs and two liquor stores and we told this was not the case and that the alcohol could be returned to the place of purchase with a receipt.

I can not find anything in the TABC code regarding unopened wine, but just a heads up to check with the place you purchase the alcohol from BEFORE buying.

    thank you very much for posting this as I plan on buying more than necessary and returning the unopened amount so this is very helpful.

    You might also try some of the other Sam's Clubs in the area... I read on another board a few days ago that this happened to someone at their Sam's but she called around to a couple others and one of them accepted it back... it's ridiculous but you might get lucky.

    Does sams have a good price on alcohol?  We just found out that we cant have kegs at the reception, so we have to stock up on bottles.... lots and lots of bottles... I have no idea where we are going to store these bottles.
