Re: What to do when life is too hard...

  • I didn't know you could fire someone you weren't paying.  That's pretty sweet.  I'm going to fire my landlord and find me someone offereing cheaper rent. (makes no sense).

  • All I'm seeing in this OP is "blah blah blah blah"
    panther
  • Actually that was a terrible example.  I pay him.  Damnit!
  • I wouldn't fire her from doing the reading.  I would, however, try to tone down her enthusiasm.  When she talks about planning showers, etc, tell her 'oh, thanks, but Jane and Mary have that covered'.  Seems like she's trying to be a good friend, but doesn't have the social skills to do it gracefully.

[QUOTE]Congrats on understanding the "firing" part as a joke.  Let's rename this board to "SERIOUS brides." Anyway, MOH already has things planned for the shower.  She knows this.  It was more of a takeover on my wedding than an actual offer.  Her Pinterest board is full of "wedding" ideas for her own wedding, even though it happened five years ago. She didn't act like this before, she just started acting like this.  Honestly, I was done with her when she said I was going to have a special needs baby.

It would be like me firing the worker at Dunkins who made me the most terrible iced coffee the other day.  (BTW, as annoying as this is, it's kind of fun).

In all seriousness OP, if you even do come back to read this and are REAL, then don't do it unless you want to seriously hurt someone's feelings and ruin a friendship (most likely) beyond repair.  This was something that you should have thought about before including someone in the wedding.

ETA:  That was a bad example too.  OP, there are far better things to stress about in life than a friend who can be socially awkward.  Keep her and move on.
  • EDIE THIS IS VERY SERIOUS.

Considering AATB has one of the most slammin bodies here, thats funny.

Also, we have no idea who you are if you would lurk instead of spewing a wall of text, maybe you'd figure out what we really do around here.

You have a problem with this lady, fine fire her a$$. Why bother coming here and writing a wall of text if you've made your decision already. Oh thats right, so we'll know your measurements along with the rest of the world who lurks here. You are sadly mistaken if you think this forum is anonymous.

<div>I don't know how exactly she said it or what the context was so I can't judge your particular situation.  The risks of childbirth as you age and issues with kids as you age is well documented.  I would be upset if someone said it to me all depending on the situation.  Also, from what you described of your friend this sort of comment might not strike me out of the blue but that doesn't necessarily mean it's right.  Did you address your feelings with her?  Is this why you want to "fire" her or is it because she's awkward.  I'm confused. My apologies if you wrote what I asked in the novel that started this, I just couldn't get past the wall of text once my eyes started to bleed.</div>

Hergies was at least a good example of how to overeact to something but then basically take the advice given and move on with their life. I don't see that happening with OP.

The MO of anyone who comes in here and lists a bunch of offenses by their bridesmaid, FMIL or apparently, their reader is pretty much that they are looking for validation.  We don't normally give validation to people who are up their own ass.
