Question About Distance

Ok ladies...

So I have a question...how far is too far?

I am thinking of getting married at a church in Upland and having our reception in Corona.

There is only a 15 mile difference BUT it requires you to get on the 10 and the 15 freeways.

Do you think that is doing too much?

I was looking at churches in Corona and one that I did the distance was 10 miles away and another was 32 miles away.

If I have the reception to immediately follow the ceremony (with guests being served appetizers and drinks), would this distance be ok?

Thoughts please.

TIA!

hmm... i went to a wedding that had me drive all the way from a church in South LA to a reception in Huntington Beach. Took forever to get there!

I would try to minimize the distance as much as possible. Especially for your OOT guests and older guests.

Well South LA to Huntington Beach is something like 40+ miles...

I am only at 15 miles.

Like I said earlier, I've traveled 60+ miles for a wedding before and I didnt complain. Its pretty much expected to drive about 15 miles in between for church weddings anyway. I think its very much worth it...its a special day and people will drive them. I had a good turn out for my wedding. I think you should be fine. GL HTH! :)

It kind of depends on the reason. Like, if it's your home church I'd give it more of a pass. Fifteen miles isn't TOO bad, but it depends on the day and what else is going on. That could be an hour in traffic in LA.

Can you get a guest shuttle? I think that would be perfect. I wouldn't mind traveling 45 minutes if I didn't have to drive myself. Then block hotels near the reception venue.

I agree with mery here. I will agree that 15 miles isn't that bad. I would try to find the easy route possible from the church to reception. Also since you said they would have to take the 10 and the 15 I would find an alternate route with streets only. Some ppl don't like to drive on freeways during traffic and would prefer streets.

that's not that bad!  i went to a wedding recently where the ceremony was in huntington beach, and the reception was 4 hours later in long beach.  at the time, it seemed a little annoying, but it did give my family and i a chance to down some appetizers and drinks beforehand.  plus, when the reception rolled around, any mention of distance and time was forgotten!  i think it's worth dedicating a whole day, including travel time, to a wedding of a friend or loved one, and i'm betting your guests will feel the same.  don't sweat it!

Our church and reception site are 15 miles away from each other also. (Diamond Bar to San Dimas). Our guests are going to have to take two freeways also. It should be fine. I don't think your guests will mind, 15 miles is not that far.
