Inexpensive Meal Ideas

We are going to have a night wedding (ceremony at 7 reception at 8:00pm). Does a meal need to be served? Would just simple appetizer/finger foods be acceptable?

If a mean should be served - what are some good options? We are on a tight budget - but open to ideas. Does anyone know of any good/cheap caterers or even fast food take out ideas. What about a spaghetti bar?

If you're not hosting a full dinner, do you plan on having seating for everyone? If the answer to that is no, then a resounding no to the spaghetti bar. That requires too much manouvering.

I think at that time, you're good to serve heavy hors d'oeuvres.  If you haven't checked your local board (links on the left) for cheap caterers, I'd definitely suggest that. You will need something to sop up any booze you'll be serving!

Ditto...at that time, you'd be good to do an hors d'oeuvres reception.  Check your local board for caterer recommendations.

You can check out my bio for "cheap eats."  We are having an evening wedding with a limited food budget as well.  We're serving a full dinner. I would definitely not do a spaghetti bar, just the though of eating other people's spaghetti makes me wretch.

I am thinking heavy Hors d'oeuvres - There will be tables set up - but not mandatory assigned spots (as of now).

    Thanks for all the discussion!
