Check (small one)

A few checks,

Scheduled my first dress trial for July 1.. ughh very anxious about this!!

and I decided on centerpieces, favors, and table names! and they all tie together!

Centerpieces are going to be glass fish bowls(that i'm getting from a friend after her wedding) with rocks/gravel on the bottom and either betta fish or floating candles in the center. I'll do a trial run and take pics for opinions once I get these bowls.
My wedding 'color' is purple. My MOH is going to wear Davids bridal plum and my BM's are going to wear wisteria. I was debating putting my flower girls in lilac just to get all shades of purple. =)
I decided to name my tables about purple flowers(instead of numbering) them.
Table 1 would be Iris. at that table the favor is going to be seed packets of iris with a poem: May love always bloom
in your garden of life,
as it will in ours
as we become husband and wife.

Please tell me what you think of this!! Opinions, suggestions!

Re: Check (small one)

  • I wouldn't do beta fish unless you plan to keep them as pets after (all in separate containers as they will fight to the death). Otherwise your killing fish for a centerpiece, a floating candle seems like  a much more humane idea.
  • I really don't think using fish for your centerpieces is a good idea. I'm imagining something going wrong and you having a dead fish floating as one of your centerpieces, or god forbid one of them gets knocked over and you've got a fish flopping around on the table. And what would you do with them afterwards?

I like the idea flower idea for your tables :-)

  • I was planning to give them to someone at each table and theres a few kids coming to the wedding that could take them home.
I do agree that a floating candle is much easier, cheaper and everything.
    Thanks for your input!

I'm late to this party but I also advise against using the fish.  It's not as easy as "someone at the table will take them home".  Fish are a responsibility that can get pricey and can't just live in a bowl forever.  You'll very likely end up killing a bunch of fish.
  • If you are going to have children attend the wedding they can take te fish home with them. I've been to a wedding where the bride wanted fish and floating candles and that didn't work out so well. The candles made the water warm and took all the oxygen. The fish were desperate for air at the top. I would choose one or the other.
