David's Bridal 84066 Hot or Not?

So I've been looking for a dress that is flattering on sizes 0-22. This is what I've found. I'm not completely happy with it but I can't find anything else. I wanted something modern and cute that didn't scream bridesmaid but I think this dress still looks like a bridesmaid dress. What are your thoughts?

  • I'm pretty sure David's Bridal starts at size 2, not 0. I was going to go with them, but my future sister in law didn't fit into their smallest size.
  • Strapless itsn't always good for bigger girls, you could end up with overspill on the top or back cleavage.
My mum was just at a wedding with that dress and she said it only looked good on the small girls for the above reason

  • I was in a wedding over the summer where we wore Bari Jay dresses that were similar to this.  They looked decent on everyone (~size 4-20).  I wasn't a huge fan, but it was better than the previously picked out dress (heavy satin in July in PA- ugh.).

Truthfully, I would consider letting everyone wear a different style.  It's SO much easier than trying to find a dress every girl will fit into.  The previously mentioned BM dress I wore was for 8 of us total.. finding it was a nightmare.   Pick the designer, color, length and fabric, then let them find their own.

My bridesmaids tried on this dress when we were dress shopping and the material was very weird.  It's a very thick, heavy cotton material and it looks like it wrinkles easy because a lot of the dresses on the rack made of this material were wrinkled.  I have bridesmaids from sizes 0 to 22 and I honestly didn't think the dress looked good on anyone!

ETA:  We tried on the short version of this gown and I looked online and the fabric is different (it's satin on the long gowns!) so you can discount what I said about the fabric.
  • Thank you for you comments. I am actually not concerned about the way it fits on all my sizes. I've actually seen it on everyone and it fits fine. I just am not sure the I completely like the dress. I just like the fact that it hides curves. My girls are very curvy.
  • My sister is a size 22 and is wearing the below in black as a bridesmaid dress.  It would look beautiful in white (if that's what you're going for...

The gown that you have in your post, she didn't like as a plus size.  The pleating made her look larger than she really is!
