April 2013 Weddings

Checks!

1. Sent in contract and deposit for WP rental house
2. Sent in contract and deposit for equipment rentals(tent, tables, etc)
3. Sent in payment for port-a-john rentals
4. Approved and ordered invitations and beverage/cake napkins!  FMIL is going to tie bows to put on the invitations and mail them to me so I can glue them on.  Go figure, I can tie a knot that will save your life but I don't tie pretty bows...
5. Worked on ceremony/cocktail hour/reception song list
6. Picked up my wedding ring
7. FI's wedding ring should arrive this afternoon
8. Bought postage for invitations

It was a busy weekend/day ;-)

Re: Checks!

  • Wow, that's a lot! Congrats! I need to get reorganized and make a list of what I still need to do.

I did just send our envelopes to the calligrapher today though so that's exciting!
  • Yay!  I'm attempting to address mine myself.  I bought a calligraphy pen and it writes nicely.  I did my sister's invites 11 years ago so I practiced a bit with the workbook thing.  I'm not super worried about it but hopefully it will look nicer with the pen than it will with the workbook markers :-)
  • You did a great job!
...8. Bought postage for invitations...Posted by lch0708
Just curious, did you account for the increase in postage effective 1/27/13?  Or were you lucky enough to get by with a forever stamp?  I'm waiting for them to get the new $0.66 stamp for over 1 ounce and new $0.33 postcard stamp since we'll be mailing ours in Feb.

  • I got the forever stamps :-)  I haven't actually weighed my invitations but I'm pretty confident that I can get by with the forever stamp.  The envelope is the size of a normal greeting card envelope and we only have an RSVP card to go with the actual invitation.  I am going to get it weighed just in case and I might have to throw on an extra small stamp but whatever.  I'm confident enough to take the chance ;-)
  • We're actually mailing a week earlier to get by with the pre-increase postage (take that USPS!!) It was fine with me because I'm ready for those things to be sent!

Checks since Christmas (when I was in Texas for a week and actually able to get stuff done):
-- met wedding coordinator for first time, went to venue to map out a floorplan
-- went to flower wholesaler, decided on all bouquets, coursages and arrangements
-- met with decorator and decided on rentals (still waiting for her to send a quote)
    -- got my wedding ring
-- wrote out ceremony with fiance, complete with prelude music for parents, grandparents and wedding party
-- got first draft of vows done
-- booked wedding night hotel room
-- FMIL picked up addressed invitations

    Need to this week:
-- book a make up artist (my biggest stressor right now)
    -- book the ceremony musicians
