4 all Brides-to-Be Shopping in So. Jersey

This is a important message to all Brides-To-Be!My wedding was 15 mos. in the planning with my wedding dress being found and fell in love with at a bridal shop called "Here Comes The Bride" located in Somers Point Plaza - 272 New Rd. Somers Point, NJ .......Owners name: Donna. To make a long story short and to the point, this woman, Donna, became a "Cat" woman with claws!! I put a down payment on my wedding dress in April, ordered specs., size, color and paid for it in full in July. Ordered maid of honor and bridesmaids dresses through her as well. Ordered and paid in full for my vail on Oct. 10. Keep in mind that my wedding is to be held Jan. 30, 2010. After 4 fittings and 9mos later, 4 days before my wedding day, I was allowed to pick up my wedding gown, vail and undergarments via being instructed to sit outside in my car and wait for "Donna" to get the large oil stain off the back of my wedding dress and give me a vail that was the "demo" instead of the NEW one. It was missing reinstones, the comb was bent and smelled of dust, She made my busselt to be hooked up with charcoal thread (looked like 2 rabbit ears), 2 pearls & an eye hook(very noticeable for everyone looking at the back of me) and this is on a dress that is frosted silver in color with only reinstones at under the bustline. Not to mention that I ended up with a Maid-of-honor, a Matron-of-honor and 2 bridesmaids dresses due to the fact that she order 2 maid-of-honor dresses, the same size to boot when one was for a 5ft 2in person and the other was for a 6ft 2in person!!!!!!!!!!!! and received them just two weeks before my wedding. Of course I need to mention that all payments made to her all that time was to be credit card or cash only!! Talk about business going under!!! Ya Think?!?!?!?! This person and shop owner "Donna" became the sales rep., the horrible seamstress, babysitter for her "lonely" rabbit that took preference over her customers, disliking children, playing with other peoples money and a LIAR!!!!!!!! She could not and can not keep staff either. My BEST and ONLY advise to all Brides-to-Be is to NEVER allow this woman or her bridal shop be part (the biggest part) of your wedding day!!!!!!!

Jewelz, first of all, I want to apologize that you had such a horrible experience. No bride deserves that, especially 4 days before her wedding.  I also went to Here Comes the Bride and I didn't have an experience close to yours, but she did leave a bad taste in my mouth. The first time I went, I went with my parents, FI, FSIL, and FMIL.  My FSIL is also getting married in June so we went together to look at bridal gowns. She kind of put my FSIL aside and just paid attention to me, which I didn't think was fair. I also really liked, on the brink of loving, a dress, but no one else did, and Donna kept pressing it on me. Saying she thought it looked good, trying to get me to buy. But in the end I still left feel satisfied.  I ended up going to Wedding Belles to get my dress but I went back to Here Comes the Bride for my bridesmaids dresses because they carried Eden dresses. Once again, I went with my FSIL and Donna was very stern this time around, to the point of cockiness.  My FSIL is more outspoken than I was so she was just making sure I got what I wanted, since she's part of my bridal party.  And the way Donna replied to us to "reassure" us wasn't very reassuring at all.  The tone in her voice made me not want to do business with her. I asked if she does a discount if I brought in x amount of girls, because some stores do that and all Donna said was, "Well I think my price is better than Macy's, don't you?" in a very condescending tone.  I mean I was just asking! And her price wasn't that much better because Macy's gave me 15% off and Donna would have charged me an extra $20 for shipping so it would've been more than Macy's anyway! Plus I get 5% back since I used my Macy's card.  Needless to say, I ended up getting my bridesmaids dresses at Macys.

From my experiences, Donna is not very warming. She makes you feel like you can't speak up and if you're the type of person who is timid, like me, she'll walk all over you and you might not even notice that she's being condescending. But these are just my experiences, one of my FSIL's bridesmaids bought her wedding dress and all her bridesmaids dresses there and loved her and never had a problem. So just take this and the pp with a grain of salt. :)

I heard bad things, and read bad reviews online, about Here Comes the Bride so I didnt even bother going there.  I found my dress at the first shop I went to, but the three I had lined up to visit in one day were Tesi in Ventnor, Wedding Belles in Linwood and Something Old Something New in OC.

Wow!  That's a much different experience than I had.  Of course I got married in 2005 and there was a different owner then.  The former owner was laid back and very accomodating.  Sorry to hear the business was turned over to somebody so imcompetent.  It won't stay in business long with that kind of customer service.
