  I think your best option is to come up with a realistic timeline for the day and just stick with it.   Make sure to build in some cusion, and like you said, definitely build in time to EAT.  Don't forget to drink enough water :-)

  
  

  I wish I had more specific suggestions.  Would you mind elaborating on the nature of the two different ceremonies?  What cultures are being represented?   What is involved in each ceremony?

  I understand the need for separate ceremonies, but why two receptions? Is there any way to combine them into one reception? Kind of like two families becoming one. You can still do separate traditions, but have both families involved.

  I agree with PP.  I understand the 2 ceremonies, but I'd combine the receptions into 1.  As a guest I think it would be very interesting to see some of the traditions of another culture.
  Just out of curiosity, what two cultures are we talking about?

  One tip I would say, is don't do alcohol at the first reception. Otherwise, you might run into probelms with guests later on in the day!
