It's FRIDAY!!!

Re: It's FRIDAY!!!

  • Morning!!!
No big weekend plans for us except taking the ferry over to where FI is from to spend Saturday with his sister. She's great - lots of wedding talk with her.

Before we leave, Saturday morning to head over, I'm going to hit up the gym. We just renewed my membership so it's time to get back at it. I got my dress and was less than impressed wtih the pictures of my arms in the dress. I joked with my mom that I'll stop eating in January and get alterations in June. ha.

Angel - super jelly you're going to DMB. Have a great time.

Bunni - sorry to hear about your mom :(

  • Morning! Late, as always. TK hasn't been working for me all morning which has been a major buzzkill for me. I feel like a hot mess today and just want to fry my brain with TK-y goodness.

Our weekend plans include bathing our dog so he can go do a santa picture and doing laundry at one of our parents houses. The parts for our dryer showed up yesterday, but if they can't come fix it Monday we'll have to wait until the 20th since we'll be out of state for like a week.

Also, I am a horrible crafter. I'm so useless at it. I have half finished race bib plaques in the garage that have been sitting unfinished for like two months. Just awful.

[QUOTE]Good morning! I took a mental health PTO day yesterday to hang out with a friend I don't get to see much anymore.  We had a great day. Behold a kd creation, as modeled by Cheddar.  He likes it because it enhances his amazing ginger coloration.

    Very flattering to Cheddar :)

Well, I found the cord for the fiber optic Christmas tree so all is well in the queendom.

  • My dad used to frame my ribbons from back in the day when I showed horses competitively.  He put them behind glass in a big frame; maybe the race bibs are the same thing?  But I'm thinking cnf is probably more creative than my dad.
  • Exactly what jcb said. I found a pictur of them on pinterest and set out to make them with left over deck wood. I had a good sized piece of 10x2 that I cut in half and primed each piece. I got puffy stickers from walmart to put on then spray paint over and peel off the stickers after they've dried (easier than steciling). I was going to make mine purple and FI's orange. Then you just screw some hooks one and you just put your race bibs on. I was also going to put hooks on the sides since I have a few medals as well. But I haven't gotten past the priming part yet. I need to buy more stickers.

Race bibs are usually the number you wear pinned to your shirt during a race. I have the 2 that I've done, framed. I have a friend who keeps his in a binder.

ETA: Clearly I was typing this when you were explaining, CNF. Your project sounds WAY cuter than my cheap frames..

  • Marrin, I used to show competitively too. I think all my ribbons are crumbled in box somewhere in parents basement now. I guess I should do something with those too. Maybe after I someday finish my race plaque...

Have you guys seen these? My friend has one and they're great. You can create custom ones for different things other than displaying running medals...

  • cnf - I have no idea where my ribbons and trophies are.  My guess is that they got lost in a move or my xH destroyed them along with our wedding pics.  More than likely they just got lost.  Did you show western, english?  I did mostly hunter/jumper classes and a little dressage.  I never got past level II dressage.
  • Oh, Iron Girl is one of their sponsors! I ran the Syracuse Iron Girl Triathlon last summer and plan to again this year. Those are really cool!

  • Their products are really cool. It's actually a company local to me - but they've been to TONS of expos all over.

I've always wanted to do the Iron Girl (just the 5 or 10k though, I have yet to do a triathalon), they have it here in September, it always ends up being a crazy month for me so I have yet to do it.

  • I would definitely suggest an Iron Girl race of any kind. It's a really neat experience. Not just the racing part, but the buzz and commotion. They do really captivating stories right before the start and they'll even call out your name and hometown as you cross the finish line. That was my first triathlon and I'm hoping to do three this year. It was amazing and I would suggest a sprint tri to anyone who enjoys racing.

CNF we continue to be soul sisters! H and I run and triathlon a LOT, but I've only ever done sprints. H did a half Ironman a few years ago. Have you seen <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/67050607/custom-race-bib-coasters?ref=sr_gallery_1&ga_search_query=bib+coasters&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_search_type=all" rel="nofollow">THESE </a>to do with bibs?

I've kept every single bib from every run I've done. I write the race name, distance, and time on the back. I need to do something with them, and I'm thinking a binder at this point would be best.

    I also have 10ish medals I need to do something with. <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/220043131765035242/" rel="nofollow">THIS </a>looks neato.

If xH DID get rid of my ribbons and trophies, that would have been the reason.  Boy, did we shell out $$$ on board and vet bills.  The buying of the horse is not the expensive part.  I did "catch" ride in shows for others so I made a little money doing that, but not enough to offset everything else.

[QUOTE]Angel, the DMB concert you're going to, are The Lumineers the opening band? There's a DMB concert in a week or two near me at which they'll be opening. The Lumineers just been nominated for a "best new artist of the year" grammy and are from my hometown. I wanted to buy tickets for that concert just to see them but the tickets were too expensive.

I think that's the opening act... I haven't heard them before, but now I'm excited to see them!

We haven't gone the last 2 years when he's been here, because the tickets were almost $100 each. This time I got a better deal, $150 for both all in. I could justify it b'c it really is the ultimate gift for FI!

Random question - I want to add a GoodReads button to my signature. How do I get the code to place it there? I've tried googling for it, but I can't find it. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Angel - that's a great price! Enjoy the concert (and hopefully the opening band too)!

  • cnf - That looks so neat! It looks like freshwater, is that right? H did the one in Austin, and he wants to practice doing the one in Galveston since it's salt water to eventually one day do Kona. All of mine have been fresh water and I can't imagine doing salt.
  • Yeah, it's freshwater. I'd love to be good enough to do Kona! I'm thinking of maybe doing one Olympic distance this year. The one I'm doing in September offers that and sprint for the same price. The mile swim is daunting though.
