The Most Random Cake Question

So I've been wondering something that is completely insignificant in the big picture, but alas that seems to be all I think about (the miniscal details).

Is it custom in the Central PA area to do the cake cutting right after dinner is eaten? I'm from NYC planning a Central Pa wedding and it's custom to save the cake cutting/serving until something like the last hour of the party here. Noticed in some reviews of my venue that management can be rigid about moving the cake cutting to the end of the party, which I find kind of odd b/c that's the only way I've seen it done at weddings.

In my experience, venues and caterers prefer the cake cutting to be early so they can cut and plate it in a timely manner. We cut our cake before dinner.

I've never heard of having to cut the cake right after dinner. Our dinner went 7:30 - 8:30 and we cut the cake right before 10 pm (reception ended at 11).

I don't think it matter. It is completely up to you, my cousin's wedding went from the enterance, to dinner, the first dance, father/daughter, mother/son then like a half hour later it was cake cutting time. She did everything, got it out of the way and enjoyed the rest of her night.

i think its all preference but we did entrance, dinner, cake cutting, and then the cake was served while we did our dances.

We cut ours after dinner so that everyone was sitting down and ready to eat the cake.  I've been to weddings where it was served later and there was so much cake sitting around it was crazy.  That's been my experience, however which ever way is comfortable.  :)
