A Royal Wedding Next Year

Prince William finally got down on his royal knee. The wedding is set for next spring or summer.

I know there are some of you on here who remember when Prince Charles and Princess Diana were married! My mom and I got up quite early to watch all the festivities and that was all we did for the entire day. It's one of my favorite childhood memories.

I'm not a huge fan of Kate, but I do like William. I'm happy for them.

I always wonder what is going on behind closed doors with this whole thing. 2012 was never okay for a royal wedding (Queen's Jubilee and the Olympics), Kate is controversial, William didn't want to marry young, they've been together awhile so breaking up now in the public eye would have been interesting, etc... It's none of my business, but what a dynamic. I'm thrilled to be pieces to not have any of those pressures.

And they did break up a few years ago but got back together, so I imagine that they worked out whatever problems they had. That said, I'm sure it's not just a question of "we love each other, let's get married" without checking the royal calendar.

Ah, yes! By sheer coincidence, I was in England that summer working as an au pair. I didn't have to get up early to watch it on the telly.

Oh - I just meant that many people speculated about the backlash William may have recieved if he had broken up with Kate after eight years together. Some people saw it as stringing her along and then not agreeing to marry her. I'm not saying that is what would have happened, but some people shared that sentiment.

I love British newspapers - I read them often. I like the comments.

I can hardly wait for this. I was up at 4-whatever a.m. to see Diana and Charles' wedding. Same with PP staying up all night waiting for news regarding her death. Will be nice to see some good news for those boys. (Yes, I know they're not boys anymore.)

While I am a bit sad (he was my crush as well back in the day), it is exciting. My mom was 6 months pregnant with me when Di and Charles were married. She watched the whole thing while folding laundry.

I'm curious as to when it will be. Even if I'm not marrying Prince William (just my incredible FI), wouldn't it be funny to get married on the same day? I'd watch the wedding while getting ready. (I'm already making plans).

I was still in diapers when Di & Charles got married, but I do remember watching Fergie & Andrew's wedding. I was in the car with my family coming home from a late night football game when they announced that Diana had died. I can't stand Elton John's "Candle in the Wind" now because of how overplayed it was during the time surrounding her funeral. I hope that Wills & Kate have a better marriage than his parents did.

I heard he was waiting until he was 30, but he'll be 29 next June (he's a month younger than I am).

I don't particularly care for Kate Middleton. I can't tell you why. It must be hard though - there are so many limits on their relationship. They can't live together, they're always in the spotlight. And it's not like dating someone who CHOSE to be famous though acting or music. He just IS a member of the most famous royal family in the world.
