If given the chance...

Re: If given the chance...

  • Poli- exactly! The voice too! The guy I imagined for the role unfortunately does not exist anywhere other than my mind :( Ed was a close second though!
I think Alexis Bledel would have been the perfect Bella
  • I do not like the girl that plays Bella. Or her portrayal of her at least.
Is it just me, or are the movies way more sexual than the books?

I hadn't even thought about her, but I ABSOLUTELY agree. Bella is supposed to be cute and sort of goofy and sweet, not the human incarnation of emo.
  • I'm sure I'm projecting, but I like to pretend Bella is a bit more funny/ less sexually charged in the book.
And although I like Twilight, I think it is poorly written. Hasn't stopped me from buying the whole series though. haha

Wait!  Am I supposed to think about more than how dazzling FI is?
  • Oh the Gilmore Girl! She is adorable.

In the past two months I've read, Charlotte Temple, The Autobiography of Bejamin Franklin, and Walden. Twilight is my dirty little English secret.

<div>Have you seen the third movie? It was a lot better and a lot more of what you're talking about I think. And I say that as someone who has nothing but disdain for the series. </div>

  • Yes, I saw the third one. I still dislike Edward and Bella in the movies, but it was worth it to see the hot Native boy shirtless.

I think of Twilight as a watered down Romeo and Juliet with the added elements of the preternatural and immortality. Hopeless teenage love is pretty much guaranteed to sell.

  • Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys. (Orientation aside.)
    Or John Krasinski.

</div><div>Mmhmm.  The sad thing is, I would've liked it a lot better if all the romance had been toned waaay down, or written in a different way. I didn't like the dynamics of their relationship at all. I did enjoy the plot outside of that though, and if it had been written well, I would probably be pretty into it.</div>
  • Twilight made my eyes bleed.  Although, anything that makes my kids read and is not pornography is okay by me.  They'll graduate to something with more meat once they're hooked.
  • I maintain that The Scarlet Letter is my favorite romance ever. That is all.

  • I haven't seen the movies but I have to agree with Anysunrise that Bella was a horrible character. I have never not finished a book (or a series of books) once I started, and I can finish a good book in one or two days, but it took me weeks to get through the Twilight books because she was so annoying and I thought it was horribly written. And I also tended to skip pages at a time of those books that just seemed to drone on about nothing.

  • Bella is just kind of a stock character. She's the sweet, virginal girl that needs protection from the big bad world.

Okay, I am off to bed. Have a good night ladies!

  • Nighty night! I'm off to a SVU marathon with DH. See y'all later :)
  • Night, Jas and Poli!
  • Book Bella was totally ok with me. Then again, I had her all conjured up before Kristin Stewert made an appearance. So my little book bella doesn't bite her lip and act like she doesn't know how to act around people.
  • I get a free pass with Joe Mauer, aka as "my boyfriend"

  • Mark Stalling (aka Puck) is a yummy man. I also love Johnny Deep, especially Chocolat Johnny. Umm Heath Ledger was on my list but not so much anymore. Eric Banna is wow...(I think I butchered his name though).

lol....I'm sorry, I know it was just a typo, but I'm thinking that would be a good porn star name twist: "Johnny Deep, in.... Pvssies of the Caribbean."

(Also, Eric Bana is wow like whoa.)
