Scouting trip review: Cake tasting at Wicked Spoon @ The Cosmopolitan & Silver Sky Chapel @ Impe

Hello brides & grooms,

I was in Las Vegas over the weekend and I made an appointment with Wicked Spoon to do a cake tasting. Danielle who's the F&B manager was there even tho it was her day off. She took the time to meet with me which made me feel special. They have 5 different cake flavors and you can choose three flavors for tasting. We chose the Birthday Birthday, Vanilla Angel food cake with Strawberries, & Chocolate with Chocolate mousse & raspberries.

The pastry chef Devyn was there as well. We tasted all three cakes and our favorite was the Chocolate with Chocolate mousse & Raspberries. It was soooooo good. Their price for cakes are pretty reasonable. We told them we don't want to get a big cake because everybody will be full. We are thinking of to get two small tiers and they are ok with it. They can make the cake to any design you want of course that will be extra. We are thinking to do just a basic swirl pattern which is $7 per person additional charge on top of the cost of the cake. The cake cost can be apply towards your food & beverage minimum. This is a really good thing if most of your guests won't be able to make it.

I asked Danielle about cocktails, beer & wine prices. They don't have set price list especially for cocktails. She said the beer&wine starts at $8 and up. Cocktails starts at $12 and up. They can customize a drink for your signature drink. Coffee, tea, sodas, ice teas, water are included with the price of buffet.

Now, regarding the private rooms. The only actual private room they have is the meeting room with a long table and 10 chairs. Their private rooms are sections of restaurant that they will close with partition/removable door. It was funny when we were there, I asked her that I want to see the private room. She brought us to that section where there were many people eating. They were all staring at Jesse & I. Lol.

One of the section of the private room  has a bar area. You can rent a bartender to host that area for extra $175 (per hour i think). The table decoration without the center pieces is simple but still chic. Regarding center pieces, she said if we are going to have them, we need to drop them off to her on the day off because her office doesn't have a secure lock storage area. If your reception is at night, drop them off to her in the morning or afternoon. They will set them up at no extra charge.

After the cake tasting we walked to Imperial Palace to take a look at the Silver Sky Chapel. Despite the construction going on, it was easy to walk in front of the hotel and they have the sign for entrance to the casino. Imperial palace casino is smaller compare to other casinos. The elevator to go up to the chapel at the fourth floor is by the registration desk. The elevator is small, just ignore the stains on the carpet and you will be fine.

Up on the fourth floor you will pass conference rooms, a salon, a horse betting room, and then the chapel. Our appointment was at 2:30 pm but we got there early. There was a wedding going on inside the chapel that will finish at 2:30 pm so we had to wait. Samantha, one of the wedding coordinator was really nice. She explained to us we have 45 minutes for the ceremony and pictures time. However, we waited until 3 pm and the bride was still taking pictures.

Finally, Samantha just let us in to the chapel despite they are still taking pictures because they were passed their time. I want the blue lighting for our ceremony, but they will need to adjust the regular lighting because if not it will be too bright. It doesn't look like on their brochure which was a bit darker. They have other color options orange, purple (which look more pink), Yellow (which look more white), and green (which look more yellow).

I also confirm there will be no extra charge for bridesmaids with CLUTCHES. If you bring in outside flowers there will be extra fee. Their waiting area is pretty spacious but I don't think it will fit more than 50 people if they are waiting around that area.

I'm sorry for the lack of pictures for the wicked spoon private area like I said there were people eating there. Also the picture of Silver Sky chapel was the same as some other knotties already posted here.

I can't wait to get married!

  • are you going to hire the private bartender? I want to but i dont wanna pay that much, but i also dont want my guests to wait forever to get a drink ya know
  • thanks for the info :)
  • I don't think I need to hire the bartender since we are going to have our reception right when they are open at 5pm and won't be as crowded. I think we are just going to serve beer & wine. We will give each guest 2 drink tickets (gonna make them ourselves) that way we can keep track of the consumptions.

Yes, thank you very much for this review!

Could you please share Danielle's contact info with us?  I have been dealing with someone named Jamie and he (or she!) has been giving me different answers than what I've read on here... so I'd like to clear some things up.
  • Lylas, not a problem. Here's her email address danielle.christensen@cosmopolitanlasvegas.com .

    When is your wedding?

  • Thank you so much!

We are getting married on November 17, 2013, at the Bellagio :)

Can I get your email address?  I would have several other questions to ask you, and it may be easier that way than using the board... thanks!
  • Yeah mine is eviliciouz@gmail.com . I like Vegas in November. Perfect temperature :).

  • I've been working with Danielle and Rose, but Rose is no longer there. They are both helpful. Thanks for the review. Wicked has always been in my top choices.
