Flower girls

Ok so I have a daughter and by the time our wedding comes around she'll be 2. Do you think that's too young for a flower girl?

I would worry that at 2 years old she wouldn't understand what she's supposed to do and be able to walk down the aisle by herself and behave the whole time.  Maybe just have her in a special outfit or something but not be the flower girl?  That's a lot of pressure.
  • As PP said, you could just have her in a special outfit, and not have her as a flower girl. But, if you would really like to have her as one, is there an adult who can walk along side her and help her out?

<div>Yes I could find someone to walk down with her. Thanks for the help! :)</div>
  • My niece is 2 1/2 and she is going to be my flower girl.  At first she wasn't interested in it at all, but now she's starting to warm up to the idea--especially when she found out that she can wear a pretty dress.  (She recently told me that she wants to wear a gold dress with a gold crown and glass slippers!)

I'm getting her a basket and some petals so that she can practice, but I am not expecting her to be able to put petals all the way down the aisle (I figure I'll be lucky to get two handfuls dumped on the ground).  I'm also planning on having someone on hand in case she decides to do her own thing.  Still, she's my only niece, so I want to include her.

  • When my daughter was 2 she was a flower girl, and she loved it! I explained to her that she had the most important job at the wedding, and that the bride couldn't come down the asile if there weren't flower petals on the ground. Then she took it very seriously and wanted to do the best "job" she could! All kids are different, and if you think she can do it then she probably can, if she's shy or easily distracted then you may want to give her an escort. Good Luck!!

  • My daughter who is 19 months is going to be my flower girl. She is carrying a pomander and my sister, who is also my MOH, is going to hold her hand as they walk down the aisle.

  • Aww thank you everyone!! I'm hoping my DD isn't too shy by that time and I can get her to do it. I might have my cousin (who is 10) walk down with her though to make sure she doesn't run off or something haha!
  • Maybe have someone help her.

  • That is a perfect age!  I have having three flower girls.. 8 yrs old. 23 monthd old and 21 months old.. =] and i think they are going to do fine!
