Wedding & Cocktail Reception Venues

I am looking for a venue to have my ceremony and cocktail reception for approximately 150 people in or around the Toronto area.  I'd like to have passed hors d'oeurves and some set stations.  I am on a budget - does anyone have any recommendations?

I would suggest calling different locations you might be interested in and giving them a number you're comfortable with and asking if they have any packages that work within it.

Not sure exactly what kind of budget you're on but here are a couple we looked at.

The Rosehill - loved it, and they have some dishes and stuff in house which may save you rental costs. It just wasn't quite big enough for us but would be perfect for you, I think.

Japanese Cultural Centre, they have rooms of varying sizes and were pretty budget friendly from what I remember.

I've heard good things about Berkeley Church too but no idea what their price range is as I never investigated it myself.

I also went to a really nice cocktail wedding reception at Balzac's in the Distillery District once (obviously they hired a caterer and served more than coffee :) )

Oh we also found it really helpful to look at caterers first and then inquire about the venues that they've worked at. Most caterers' websites have lists of their partner venues.

Some caterers we looked at were L'Eat, Daniel et Daniel, Ginger Island, Marigolds & Onions, and On The Go.

That's a great start - thanks for the suggestions, ladies!  Did any of you get a wedding planner/co-ordinator to help you?
