The best story I've ever overheard

On the T coming home today, I overheard a mid-20s girl talking to her friend.  She had recently been to the Dominican Republic & he asked about her trip.

Apparently, she was a BM in a HS friend's wedding.  They threw a b-party for the girl, here in Boston.  Got a limo, hotel room, went out partying.  The BMs split the costs and covered her drinks and covers and food and such for the night.  Some of them did lingere gifts for the bride, at various prices.

The bride was displeased with the amount of money that two of them spent, and kicked two of them out of the WP for it - including this girl.  After they had paid for their airfare and hotel room in advance, non-refundable.  In addition to the dress and shoes and jewelry that the bride mandated.

Oh - and - the bride uninvited them too.  Not even supposed to attend the wedding at all.

So, she went on a vacation but didn't attend the wedding.

I really wanted to ask her for more details, but it was too creepy.  For real, though, I had always held out hope that this sort of crap that people post is MUD.  This came out of a real person's mouth, heard with my own ears.  And, she had the tan to go with the vacation story.  :D

Re: The best story I've ever overheard

  • I guess sometimes the random brides on here that we think are troll or AE might actually be ppl. That sucks for the girl. I am glad she went on vacation. Was the money they spent too much for the bride and that's why she mad or not enough?

  • I...don't even.. what? Seriously? How... wow.
  • That is amazing.  I don't know how I am still surprised at the way some people act.

I'm assuming you've heard about Sco's SIL drama?  I cannot believe people like that are real, but, apparently they are.  Let me also say that I'm so glad that she, DH, father and other SIL are declining the wedding and rebooking the cruise.

    Whatabitch.

And, in case you missed it:

  • Every time I think that these stories can't be real, you meet some one irl that has been through something similar. It's incredible that these sort of brides and people, in general, actually exist.

  • I love overhearing crazy stories on the T, although I have to say I've never heard a real life wedding story that ridiculous. I hope I never meet a bride like that.

  • Oh. My.. Seriously? I've never encountered anyone like that, in person, but I can't even imagine.....
@tidetravel - Just read those posts on SB.  I have faith in people, and generally don't believe in violence, but good lord, I would have kicked that girl's ass by now.. Lol.
  • But did she want them to spend more money, or less? So unbelievable! Hideous people!!!
  • Oh, the bride wanted them to have spent MORE money. She thought they cheaped out on her and weren't taking her wedding seriously enough.  Um, what?

Tide - yeah, I barely make it through everything here & on Invites/Kentucky/Louisville, much less adding SB to the list.  If somebody links a particular post (like this) I'll take a look, but that's about it.

And - Sco - your SIL sucks.  Big time.  Which is why it's AWESOME that you don't have to put up with her on your cruise.  :D

Yeah.  I don't read SB and really, from what I've read, prefer to just avoid it so...yeah.

  • Also, I can't imagine doing that to my friends.  Really.  How awful she is.  They're probably better off just getting the vacation and not having to be a part of the wedding.  Imagine what that day would've been like.

Oh, I'm with you on that.  Although, at this point, I'd love for somebody to ask me to be a BM for a DW in a tropical location, because I think that might be the only way to convince my H to take a vacation there.

I've finally convinced Herbert we need to.  When we went to Vegas with friends in the spring, they sat by the pool every morning so we did too.  And now he figures he can actually do that kind of thing.

Maybe we're just getting closer to that age...

  • Wading,  I think I've been 'that age' since my 30s and a glorious age it is.

Squirrly,  Gotta love the T.  I take it every day and am often entertained.
