Haha no. I work in insurance for the next few weeks at least. We just get suckered into stuff.

  • Did you at least get some good booze out of it Adamar? Anytime I get someone to help me I give them booze.
  • My dog isn't subtle enough to catch a squirrel.  But she is a fantastic lizard catcher (to my dismay).

My childhood cat could catch almost anything.  Gophers, moles, field mice, birds.  It was always scary hearing her come through the catdoor -- we never knew what to expect.

  • @ Mica - How far removed from the wild lineage? Aren't Savannahs the wild cats crossed with domestics? Or am I thinking of something else?

@ Adamar - I didn't know you were in insurance. I'm licensed and work for a company, but don't feel like I do much with my license. I do more billing now than anything.

IIRC True Believer had a happy ending, but the sequel was a tear jerker, so it didn't count.

My dog tries so hard to catch squirrels, and it's pretty hilarious. The dumbass cat just watches, when I'm sure he could catch them if he tried.

There are no cat doors in my house for this reason. Half dead and injured wild life need to stay outside where the cat can finish his business without the injured wild life running up my leg!

The barn cat leaves half of animals on the front porch in the morning. We have no squirels. I've offered to lend him to my mother since the squirrels eat her garden, but she doesn't want to borrow him.

  • Steffi, I absolutely hate insurance. See my ticker. I'm counting down the days til I'm done. No offense, insurance is just NOT for me.

</div><div>My dog likes to toy with frogs. He will catch one, take it to a certain spot in the yard, stalk it while the poor creature hops away in fear, let it get to a certain point and then he will pick it up and move it back to the same spot so everything starts over again.  All the while he is gagging over how horrid they taste. He's stupid, but he's mine.</div>
  • My cat is great at hunting bugs that get into our house (she's an indoor cat), but she never wants to kill them. Just stalk them and meow until I kill the bug myself. It's actually a nice little system we've worked out.
  • I had a cat when I was younger. I saw it hunched over something in the yard and went to pick him up. A baby chipmunk was underneath him and ran off frantically. I was all pleased for saving the chipmunk. Then a few days later as I was reading my dad put a dead chipmunk on my book. I freaked out. Apparently my cat found the chipmunk again....
  • My parents' dog has caught squirrels a few times. She usually gets so surprised that she drops them or they turn and try to scratch/bite her and then she drops them.

I have signatures turned off, so I can't see tickers or photos. :( They crash my main work program most of the time.

I never planned to make a career out of insurance, but insurance pays for my horses. I wanted to work as a pro in the horse industry. Then the economy tanked, and insurance was the family business, I was licensed, experienced, and I landed a good corporate job. And, I freakin' hate my job most days. But, it pays very well. So, I pretend I like it. LOL

  • We have (at last count, unless someone dropped another cat off I haven't noticed) 5 barn cats that hunt the barn and pastures. They kill. That's they're job. I don't like rodents in the barn, hay, grain, etc... The dogs kill on occassion, too. The landowner shoots possums and racoons, too. The neighbors shoot the deer and coyotes. That's life.

The indoor cats rarely get a mouse. That's fine with me.

I hate the thought of animals suffering, but our barn cats are pretty clean hunters. They kill their prey quickly and don't toy with it most of the time.

I have my golden retriever at my house for a few days (I left her with my parents when I moved) so I'm hoping she will scare the squirrels away. I doubt she can catch them, but she is much more intimidating than my 7 pound Papillion.

  • Steffi -- she's 4B SBT, which means that she's technically purebred Savannah rather than a Savannah mixed with a Serval (wild cat).  At that generation, they are considered fully domesticated and don't need wild animal permits or training.
  • Hi all.  Just got in from my class, I have a feeling it's going to be hell on wheels.  I have to read 100 pages for tomorrow, and we're having a final exam.  I can't remember the last time I had a final exam -- usually we just get papers.  It's scary to think that the final is a month from today.  I'm not sure I'm cut out for these month-long classes.

  • Hi Bay! Just think - you'll be busy for a month, but in a month it'll all be over. That's what I always have to tell myself when I take those shorter classes. It always seems so daunting on the first day.
  • evening ladies.  my day was crappy.  tomorrow looks to be more crappy   fun times.

  • I just signed up for my first pole dancing class. I'm nervous to go but I hope it will be fun. My friend was going to go with me but she didn't get my message that I bought it so now I'm on my own.

  • Hi KJB!  Why are your days so crappy?  Just the job, or something else?
  • Petal, I'm such a chicken when it comes to group workout classes. I refuse to go unless a friend will go with me. Thus, I've only done one. I've heard pole dancing is really fun!
  • A one month class sounds rough, Bay.
  • I really want to try pole dancing.  Except that I'd be scared that a student would be there and think of me as the pole dancing attending.  :P

Leisel - I only purchased the deal because I thought I would have a friend. I'm going to make myself go though. The lady on the phone was really nice so that's good. My first class is Saturday so we will see.

    ETA: Haha, Mica.
