New CT Bride!

Hello everyone!

My name is Michelle and I just got engaged on Friday (7/9)!! Matt, my fiance (oo that sounds so funny!) and I have been together since 2005 when he asked me to our senior prom. We had been friends all through high school. We made it through separate colleges and nursing school. I am a registered nurse and work in a maternity/newborn unit. It is my absolute dream job! Matt is a computer networking specialist and he loves that too.

We already own our own house together and have a 1 year old goldendoodle named Jacoby... yes, we love the Red Sox!

We went on a road trip to Toronto on Friday and were supposed to stop at Niagara Falls on our way there but the weather was terrible. Matt ended up asking me to marry him in our hotel room in Toronto. It was perfect. We are not very public people and it was definitely the right thing. Then we shared our news with my family who met us in Toronto for the Red Sox/Blue Jays games.

My ring is beautfiul. I love it! It is a solitare with diamonds in the band. I will attach a photo!

We are hoping to get married in August of 2011. We have already started thinking of ideas and actually already made some appointments to tour venues. We will be seeing Mystic Aquarium this weekend!

I am so nervous about planning and so I am so excited to have found this board with girls nearby who can help me out and give me ideas!

    We're getting married at Mystic Seaport. It's a great town for a wedding!! Tons of hotels and a great mini-vacation spot for your guests who are staying over.

    Okay! haha! Here is a picture of Jacoby. We bought him a cake for his 1st Birthday. Here is him posing with before he gobbled down the the whole cake.

    I am also getting married at Mystic Seaport next year (June 2011), it's an awesome deal for brides :)

    What a cute dog!  I have a "designer" breed dog, too.  I have a puggle (beagle-pug, I say beagle first because he doesn't look like a pug at all, except for his all black coloring and curly tail), 2 years old named Rocky.  Right now he's in the doghouse (the metaphoric one) for all the mischief he's caused over the last few days, but we do really love him

    Thanks everyone! I am still so excited and I'm sure I will be for a while!

    We are also going to check out the Branford House on Saturday. It is on the Avery Point campus of UConn. Beautiful and expensive. Not sure if we can afford it yet, but since we will be in the area, we will stop there too.

    Welcome and congratulations!! Your ring is gorgeous and looks very similar to my original ring (so I naturally *LOVE* it!!)  I have a long story with my first ring, but I am happy with my new one, although I definitely miss the original one my fiance proposed to me with.  Enjoy the planning!! :)  We're getting married 2/19 at Saint Clements Castle in Portland!  Happy Planning!  Laughing
