Snarky Brides

Sunday Morning

Morning ladies. I planned to sleep in but my phone rang at 8:30. It was a private number so I didnt answer. They called back 15 min later and it was a recorded "i have an important message for you". So much for sleeping in.

H and i are going to our friends kids birthday. She is turning 3. Should be fun.

Re: Sunday Morning

  • Good morning.

i also wanted to sleep in.  My H decided that 7:30 was a good time to start tossing and turning.  So yeah, I'm up.

We're going on a little hike today.  Nothing impressive, just hitting up a few little trails at our closest state park.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate.  We're in a dense fog advisory at the moment.  I can't even see the house across the street.
  • I made it to like 10:00 and I am thrilled. I feel like a million bucks.

Today is the first day in forever that H and I don't have anything to do. I am beyond excited. I ran 7 miles yesterday and my legs aren't even sore so I am also happy about that. I'm thinking maybe hitting the pool. The in-laws visit was a success for the most part but I am glad they leaving.

  • Morning.  I'm trying to decide what I want for breakfast.  Nothing too exciting on the agenda.  We may go check out a gym nearby that we're thinking of joining.  I really need to go to the grocery store so maybe I'll do that later too.
  • Morning ladies!

Dog had us up early, H earlier than I ;) I'm watching Love It or List It. And gearing up to spray paint the old metal mailbox we have on our porch its just decorative, but I started my fall decor already so I want to get it painted to I can string lights on it this year.

I cleaned yesterday, so none of that today. But I went to Michaels (bad idea) I'm making quite a few projects including Grandbaby's 1st Birthday onsie.

  • Morning KD - I may do some online Christmas shopping today.  I'm not sure how much decorating we'll do this year.  We probably won't do much of anything outside on our balcony.  I'm hoping to put up a tree and set out some other holiday knick knacks as a nod to the season though.
  • Morning!

I'm trying to figure out how to diplomatically tell mil we don't need her advice when they come down Sat. She keeps telling H all of the things he should do to get better, except they are in direct contradiction to his doctors orders. For example: Dr said to err on the side of less insulin, she said "oh, it won't hurt to give yourself extra". Except, you know, extra insulin can cause effing seizures (oh wait...)
Dr says to watch his diet, especially carb intake and direct sugars, because even if he is Type 1 a good diet is helpful. She says "diet isn't important, just take more insulin."

Well you have proven in the past your MIL is a little off her rocker!

  • Yup.  We're having a great Christmas present.  Hopefully an early Christmas present (I'll be a week past due if I make it to Christmas).  And as such we'll be having visitors, so I want to at least nod to the season. :)

    I vote for Dec 16th!

  • I'd take that.

Glad your H seems to be doing as well as can be expected KW.  Try to let MIL go in one ear and out the other.  I know it's not always easy.  Apparently my MIL had quite a few words to say to H about my using a midwife instead of an OB.  But she's a NICU nurse, so I guess she comes from a world where there are problems everywhere.  And I am planning on using cloth diapers (and wipes) and she said if we were that concerned about the environment we should use less paper towels and more cloth napkins.  *Thanks*.
  • Why whatever do you mean KD?  You couldn't possibly be referring to all the bogus baby advice she gave.Wink and the asian baby stories lol.

    No, Never! ;)

Loopy- My step-daughter had a home birth with her midwife doula, she did just fine, but they had toured the closests hospital, just in case. She also uses cloth diapers and wipes. I also used midwives when I had my son 22 years ago. He was born in a hospital, but not a doctor in sight. You my lady will be just fine!

And if you need any diaper recs let me know. I got all mine from Sucrets for SD.

  • My midwife delivers in a hospital.  And is part of a practice with both midwives and OB's so if I develop any complications, they'll transfer me to one of their OB's.

KW - my friend has one of those helpful MIL's.  Her MIL told her not to breastfeed cause it can lead to higher allergies and mental retardation.

You have got to be kidding me! Granted I didnt breast feed, but I know that BF is much better for babies if you can do it. Someone needs to send this lady some literature!

ETA: If you couldnt figure our Dec 16th is my sons Bday! I had a bundle under the tree too.

  • Feel free to message me about CD's too :) I love them and use them with K. I mostly stalked MrsB's diaper blog lol.

Yeah, my favorite gem is still "Breastmilk is empty nutrients" and "You know, if you fed her formula she wouldn't have growth spurts and eat so much".

Oh, and that Asian babies are always in the bottom 5th percentile, because doctors don't take their Asianness into consideration. Except K, who is 50th, but really that's on the scale of "regular" babies so she's really small? Yeah, I don't know either lol.
  • KD - I figured it was either your birthday or your sons. :)  I'd love some CD recs too.  I put an assortment of brands on an amazon.com registry and plan to probably buy some additional of the kinds I like and work well after the baby comes and we do it.

    I didn't know Mrs. B had a CD blog.

It's the best ever. She has super detailed reviews of tons of brands.

I've got BumGenius and Thirsties covers-GreenMountDiaper prefolds and love them.
  • Thanks for the link.  I bookmarked it for study later ;).
