Need Laughs/Distractions

Hi ladies. For those of you who are not a FB friend of mine, My grandma passed away early Saturday morning. I am heartbroken, as is my family. My work that I do is per diem and I need the money so I am stuck at work today.. wanting to go home. I'm sorry I don't want this to turn into a "woe is me" post.

So ladies, any suggestions on how to pass the time? Or laugh? Nutsy Bolts anyone? I really need something to get me through until at least the afternoon, til I can go home and be with my family. Any suggestions welcome! TIA.

    Aw, honey, I'm so sorry.

I'd offer to play a game with you but my work computer won't let me.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

I'm so sorry to hear that!

I'd be all over nutsy bolts with you, but unfortunately I'm engaged in a semi-interesting discussion on Marxism in my Political Ideologies class. And then it's off to the races for another busy day.

You could always browse brides.com - that's usually good for a laugh. Or Cyanide and Happiness.

I'm so sorry for your loss!

My solution to distracting myself is always planning a hypothetical trip.  It works for me every time.  I google "Best Vacation" and then a random word that pops into my head (i.e. gopher, tulip, snail, whatever! The more random the better!) and the first destination that pops up is where I'm "headed".  Then I find flights, hotels, activities on Kayak.com and TripAdvisor.com.  I create a budget and everything!  It can distract me for easily 2-3 hours.

    Other funnies: failblog.com, failbook.com, wedinator.com, stfucouples.com - all consistently funny!

sorry to hear the news cde.  :(

my FI's grandpa passed away last week.  they called the family a few days before, but his work wouldn't let him make the trip.  when he passed, his manager felt really bad and let him go to the funeral but it's not quite the same.  he just got back yesterday (made an 11 hour drive on thursday and then back home last night).  he is very busy so i'm hoping that will help keep his mind off it.  :(

let us know if we can help!

I am so sorry about your grandma. I'm really sorry you can't be at home with your family. *hugs* Now let's get you laughing. It is, after all, the best medicine, amirite?

    Websites:
http://stfuparents.tumblr.com (like STFUCouples only with obnoxious parents)
    http://bluntcard.com (1950's spoofs)
http://whydidyoubuymethat.com (bad gifts happening to good people)
    http://mthruf.com/ (workplace hijinks)

and the only website that kept me consistently entertained for 8 hours: TV Tropes, which can be found here http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HomePage

A great distraction is reading a webcomic from the beginning. I've been reading Questionable Content for about 2 years now and it took me the better part of a week to read it from beginning to end. It's one of the best, well-drawn webcomics I've read, and the story is linear: www.questionablecontent.net

Thank you all so much! I really appreciate it. I ended up coming home from work because I couldn't take it anymore. I am really hurting because my cousin is unable to come home. He is switching from Active duty to the reserves in the Air Force and if he were to come home, than he would lose all the training he's done from October until now. My grandma raised my cousin and I together and I really wish he was here. I know that is selfish, but I can't help but feel that way.

I am trying to just spend time with my family and keep busy. I will check out the websites later on, I have to babysit now while my mom and aunts run errands. Thank you all for your kind words and distractions. I really do appreciate it and will be back later.

Sorry I'm tardy to the post...HUG!  I'm so sorry for your loss.  A fun distraction...get out a sheet of paper and see how many countries in the world you can name without googling them.  (Hint:  The UN says there are 192.)
