Western Mass. Restaurant for Engagement Luncheon or Dinner?

My mother would like to host a small engagement luncheon or dinner in Western Mass., ideally Stockbridge or Williamstown, because that's a convenient location for both families. We're from Eastern Mass., so we don't this area at all, but I think it's a great idea to meet in the middle so no one has to drive more than 2 hours or so. (We're hoping to get married in or around Boston since this feels like home for us.) My mom would like a restaurant that can accomodate a group of 8-14 people either in a separate alcove or private room and because some guests aren't used to international cuisine, we're looking for somewhat familiar food (Italian, American, etc). I did a Yelp search and came up with a few options, but I'd love other suggestions for restaurants. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hmmm.  I'm not familiar with Williamstown or Stockbridge, but if you'd consider Northampton, there are several options there.  Hotel Northampton is lovely (Wiggins Tavern), or Eclipse Restaurant might be a nice setting with good food (I haven't been there myself, but have heard good things).  Or... Spoleto is one of my favorite Italian restaurants- decent food, atmosphere, and prices.

    Good luck!

Our rehearsal dinner will be in Northampton at Mulino's (Italian).  They have a private dining area upstairs and their menu is very reasonable!

What sort of price point are you thinking of? I only ask because in Williamstown & Stockbridge especially, prices can run pretty high. In my opinion the best Italian in the Berkshires is at Mazzeo's in Pittsfield. Otherwise this site might be helpful: http://www.berkshiremenus.com
Let me know if you have any questions. We live in the Berkshires and eat out too much!

Yes, I know that area can be pricey. Trouble is, my mom needs to keep things affordable (not sure of her exact budget I'm sure it's not huge) and we also want to minimize driving time for everyone since they're coming from different directions. It's a smaller group so hopefully that will help.

Gramery Bistro has fantastic food and a very romantic ambiance. It is located in North Adams at MASSMOCA, would be a bit pricey though.

In Stockbride my personal favorite is The Red Lion Inn. They have more formal dining, but also have a Tavern menu with fair prices. If I had to pick my favorite resturant in the Berkshires, I'd pick the Salmon Run in Lee. Before I became allerigc to shellfish, I'd order from there all the time (and if you do, try the Lobster Bisque). They also serve steaks and such. I'd go with a Lee resturant, as its right off the pike and you've a better chance at fair prices. The Morgan House is also very popular around here. Both are on main st. For your purposes, I'd try the Morgan House first. From what I've heard, they have more space to work with for private parties.
