Snarky Brides

Where is everyone?

Are you all out partying on Saturday night?

I've been home alone all day while DH works on framing our house. I can't wait to see how much it's changed since the last time I was out there!

What are you all up to?

Re: Where is everyone?

  • Hi!

I just bought lotto tickets for tonight's big drawing.  The cashier asked me how old I am.  My response was: "28...no wait, 29! No! 30!  Yes, 30!!"  (I just turned 30 on 8/9...not sure why I thought I'm still 28 at first though!).  She gave me a skeptical look, but didn't ask to see my ID and sold me the tickets.  But I felt like a moron.  And she definitely laughed at me as I walked out.  :::facepalm:::

  • Also - that's awesome that your H is building your house himself!! I imagine it's also stressful, though.  We are under contract for a house now, and I thought THAT process was a bit stressful.  I can't imagine building one! (Not that I have the skills to do so anyway, ha).

Yeah, it's taking a lot longer this way, but that works because we're doing it debt free. I try to get over there and help when I can. And it is so cool when we get the nephews over there helping too. We get some great photo ops. :)

And I've totally forgotten my age before too! (Actually, I forgot my last name when I first started working at my current job - I'd only been married 4 months :P)

<div>Oh wow, that's amazing.  Kudos to you and your H!</div><div>
</div><div>Glad to know I'm not the only one who forgets their age.  I actually got used to my married last name a lot faster than I expected - but it's actually really similar to my maiden name.  Both are 6 letters and the last 3 letters are the same.  So I joke that I only had to change half my last name when I got married. </div><div>
    </div><div>
</div><div>ETA: 7 letters, not 6. Apparently, I am having issues with numbers tonight on the whole.  </div>

DH has markers set up on the lot so all he has to do is put the tripod there and adjust the camera angle to get similar location photos. We're hoping to pull together some kind of time lapse video of certain phases of the house going up.
Good luck, LP! I'm here. Just got home from working even more hours. I hate when we're so backed up I have to work Saturday. And then while there, I got some upsetting mail (work-related) and so I'm in a pretty bad mood. :(
    Posted by djhar
Oh no! Does this have to do with your FB post earlier? Sending T&Ps your way...
  • That will be REALLY cool, AZ. We took a pic from the same exact spot across the street for many, many days. But then they started parking lulls and big trucks and stuff in front of the house and you couldn't see anything. So that idea kind of fell by the wayside.

  • Thanks DJ.  I'm sorry you're having a crappy day!  I suggest some chocolate, a bubble bath, and a good book tonight to help relax.  I hope tomorrow is better!

  • I'm about to go to a country bar downtown. I hate country. This should be interesting. I just want to go out and some people are headed there.

Also our fridge/freezer is busted. I'm gonna have to throw everything out tomorrow. I am pissed. And reallll thirsty.

Oh man I love Gilmore Girls!  I didn't watch it when it was on the air though, I watched reruns so I haven't seen all of the seasons.  Maybe after I finish watching Dexter, my next "project" will be to find and watch all of the GG episodes in order.

Season 6 of Dexter comes out on DVD on our anniversary (8/14), and we are stoked.  We preordered it  on Amazon to arrive that day and will spend the evening of our anniversary watching it.  What's more romantic than watching someone slaughter other people?? :-P

  • Anna, that sounds like fun!
We're going camping in Sept and another trip in Oct and I can't wait.

We're just being lazy tonight. I wore myself out this morning getting a lesson horse ready for lessons next week and haven't done much except work on orders this afternoon. Dh wants to go get icecream and Im in PJs. He may be going to get some icecream to-go :)

  • Im here. I had a good day.  I got up early with Gia and took her for a long walk on this historical trail nearby and a giant schnauzer attacked her.  I dont feel bad that I kicked it in the chest.  It was on one of those super long leashes and I knew the attack was coming and since my dog is a pussy, i reacted pretty quickly. I could tell by the stance it took, its body language and how it zoned in on Gia. He lunged at her the first time and I yanked the leash and threw her behind me.  The second time I had no choice but to kick it in the chest and back it up.  Then his owner finally got the leash under control and started yelling at me for kicking her dog.

I lost my mind and cussed her out.  I mean literally lost my mind on her.  Im pretty sure at one point i told her she was lucky her dog didnt get a piece of my dog because I would have tackled it to the ground and snapped its effing neck.

Dont mess with my dog.  Homie dont play that.

I also volunteered with an organization that did therapeutic horseback riding. in college  It was awesome. and I loved it.  Actually, I was thinking recently about maybe looking for a place like that in the Raleigh area to volunteer at now...do you know of any?

  • Evening! I am here, going to drink a few beers with H and just relax some more. His brother came to visit for a while but wasn't feeling well so ended up leaving instead of staying tonight and going out.

I am glad you gave her a piece of your mind Blue, although to be honest I wouldn't have expected any less from you :)

DJ I hope your day starts getting better!

Yeah, pretty sure "funny" is not the word I would have used. The other owner had no business yelling at you in the first place. It was her dog that charged - twice.

Are you in the North / South Raleigh area? We're right outside of it (south) :o)

If you want, I can PM you a couple local organizations that are looking for volunteers.:) DH and I were volunteering at a local Therapeutic place (I'd love to run my own when we have our own farm), but there some things that just didnt seem right and so we left.

I currently exercise horses for a local farmer and am giving lessons too :o)
$10 a lesson is insane! I'm hoping to get back into eventing and the barns I'm looking at are around $50+ / private 1hr.

  • Blue, I would have enjoyed seeing you ream her a new one. I hate pet owners who don't watch their pets and then get mad at the other person when they attack.

LP, i frequently have to think about how old I am.

Didn't do much today. Finished my lesson plan, got a lot of writing done, finished reading a stupid book. Now H is watching the most boring movie ever made (J.Edgar) and I'm playing online.

Ah, that movie introduced me to the fine Cillian Murphy.

Don't watch the sequel. It's a piece of garbage that will just piss you off.
