hors d'oeuvres only

Our wedding is @ 7pm and will be a short and sweet ceremony. We are serving 2 passed hors d'oeuvres along with a 10ft long fruit, cheese and vegetable station. Should we advise the guests of this on our invitation and how do you word it?

"hors d'oeuvres and cocktails to follow"

Most of the time people will understand that means no actual dinner.

ETA: Yes, you should inform the guests. Forgot that part haha

That's not enough food for a dinner time reception.

Yeah, I would expect that at a 7pm ceremony, I would be fed a full meal after. Can you move your ceremony to 8pm, and have your apps and desserts? That would fit better.

Even if you move your ceremony to 8 I still don't think that is enough food. I would suggest adding 2 more passed apps or 1 more passed app and 1 additional station.

Also, will you be having dessert? If so, I would suggest providing a bit of variety rather then just cake.

As a guest, if I was attending a wedding that just provided apps and dessert I would prefer a variety of things to choose from so the food doesn't get boring...I mean how many veggies and dip can one person eat.

Ditto PPs. That doesn't seem like enough food for a reception that starts at 7:30ish. You're pretty close to dinner hour still, and depending on travel plans, your guests may not think to eat a full meal ahead of your ceremony. Can you build out your current menu with additional appetizers or stations? What does dessert look like?
