Fine China - Did you register for it?

Re: Fine China - Did you register for it?

  • We didn't register for China. I did go back and forth about it though.  We love to entertain but in the end I just felt in wasn't nessecary for us to have a more expensive set of dishes to entertain with, especially with no room to store them. We will just use our every day dishes when we have gatherings, I know our family and friends won't care what they are eating off of.

In the future if I change my mind, I will most likely buy a set from an estate sale or something of that nature and get the whole set in a vintage pattern. There have been two I have come across at estate sales (my friend runs the sales) and I have been tempted to buy but talked mysellf out of it since we were saving for the wedding. They were only like $300 for 12 place settings & all of the accessories but it was also $300 that could go to a vendor so I decided to wait.

  • We registered for everyday dishes and fine china. I know I won't use the fine china right away but I will in the future with holidays and stuff like that:

    Everyday:
    Fine China:
  • I think I'm going to use the fine china on the holidays like some of you have mentioned. I like that idea and it gives me an excuse to use it!

  • Shelly, I love the chirp pattern too!

Elizabeth and Court, Those were both in my top picks.  Court, I loved that pattern because of the ornateness as well :)

Midge <3 for you! I think we will use them on holidays too as an excuse :)

[QUOTE]Still feeling bad about it I see. :-p Stop it! They bought it for you because they love you. We did both. Everyday: Fine: When I just looked at our registry to get those pictures, I noticed that we registed for 10 of the fine and 8 of the everyday. Is that how it should be? lol

<div>I think people normally register for either 8 or 12...but do whatever you want! It's not a big deal.</div><div>
</div><div>Shelly, one of my best friends has Chirp for her everyday and almost 3 years later, she still loves it and it's help up really well! No chips in chirp!</div>
  • Meg, I love the set that you chose! it's beautiful!

Midge, we chose the same fine china pattern! I love it!

Shelly, my friends registered for that set. It's beautiful. It has bird salt and pepper shakers that go with it.

  • When we went to register, I fell in love with all of the Kate Spade China. I had them on my registry for about a day, but we actually need a lot of things and I could not justify the cost of the china I wanted.
I ended up choosing a very plain set, just white with platinum banding. Now I will be able to use a wide range of accent plates for differentt occasions.

[QUOTE]We have not registered for any china.  What we have for everyday coordinates well and I have my Coca-Cola set put away that's never been used.  I got an ad for Lenox set below that I LOVE, but can't justify the price even if someone else is buying it.  Even for holiday dinners, my family would break something and I'd have to cry. I love this pattern though.  Red and turqouise are my favorite colors---and wedding colors! I may have to register for these anyway!  They are so pretty!

If were were going to register for any, I loved this pattern! So pretty! I can't own dishes that cost that much though. I would never use them, in fear of breaking them!

I voted no, but then realized we registered for everyday. Oops.
