How long is your reception?

Re: How long is your reception?

  • Ceremony at 2:30
    Cocktail Hour at 6:00
Reception ends whenever we want!  Maybe midnight?  Weddings always seem really short to me because I like to stay out til like 4AM but I'm guessing it will clear out long before then!  And then people can head to a bar or something.  I'll probably be exhausted.

  • It sounds a little short to me, but I suppose our reception is 7 hours long from the start of cocktail hour until the end of the night =]

  • ceremony at 5, cocktail hour at 5:30, dinner at 6:30, last song at 10:30. We also have the option to extend by a half hour that night if things are rockin'!

  • ours is:
    ceremony: noon til 1pm
    cocktail hour: 1:30pm til 3pm
    reception: 3pm til 8pm

Like you, we could add the DJ for more hours, but we'd have to pay...
  • I have yet to go to a wedding where I didn't feel like the party was just getting started when things shut down at 11 or 12! (usually starting around 6). I feel like cocktail hour and dinner take so long (2 hours or so) and then you only get an hour or two to dance! I always want at least 3 hours for dancing, heh. :)

Our ceremony is at 6, cocktail hour from 6:30-7:30, dinner from 7:45-8:45, live band and dancing from 9-1:30, and if it's still rocking we'll play music til 2 when we have to be out of the venue. Pretty much all of my friends, family, and my mom's friends are big dance people, so I have a feeling we'll be going til they shut us down. :)
  • Hmmm.... thanks ladies for all the feedback! Small hitch is that the venue is about an hour outside of town and we are busing a lot of guests in, so there won't be an option for the out-of-towners to leave early if they want to. Though I suppose 11pm isn't super late. I guess I need to discuss again with FI and see what our parents think too.

    :)
