It is August already!! I thought that now that we have a monthly post, I'd start by asking prayer for the ladies getting married this month.

I had an allergic reaction to some pool chlorine last night. I'm doing a lot better today, but last night was kind of scary. Nothing like this has ever happened before and I'm just really thankful it didn't mess with my skin too bad this close to the wedding.

I'm interviewing today (August 1) for a better job than the one I've been offered -- I go to HR to fill out paperwork for the job I've been offered later this week if the job I'm interviewing for today doesn't come through. Pray that I find the right open door and I go through it quickly and with joy.

Praise - H (whoops, I said FI ... edit!) is actually thinking about going back into teaching again - his co. where he's been the past 2 years is refusing to have evaluation meetings (and therefore no raises or anything despite them adding even more responsibilities to his job). Anyway -- teaching does pay a bit more, although less chance of being paid MUCH more -- but teaching was his passion before he went to the company he is currently with. I'm not sure what all he wants to do next, but he's keeping his job until something considerably better comes along, and he's working on his masters of business management degree, so he's kind of "not sure" in a way. It's a good kind of "not sure" right now. Praise God for giving him such a "go get 'em" kind of spirit!!! :-)

LOL! I caught that too!

My FI needs prayers for speedy healing. We think he broke his left pinky toe on Saturday when slipped getting into the shower and it slammed against the side of the tub. When I was a little kid, I would break my toes ALL THE TIME (one of my toes is even slightly crooked from multiple breaks and healing funny). I know he's hurting. He's going to the doctor today, but I know from experience that all they'll do is buddy tape it, then tell him to ice it and take ibuprofen.

IN ANY CASE we are moving this coming weekend and having an injured foot is not conducive to lifting and moving large, heavy furniture and other cumbersome objects. Prayers for speedy healing would be appreciated.

my FI really needs prayer for his job situation. it is sooo hard on him and the heat is getting to him. Please pray for doors to be opened.

Also pray for finances for my wedding. i have really been stressing to get everything paid.

I never got on "the list", but i'm also August 13th.

A few weeks ago I got an infection in my eye and I'm praying it'll be gone before the wedding. Also, FI had a job interview last week and we should be hearing back soon!

A couple of prayer request:
I take my oldest off to college on August 20th (2.5 hrs from home). I know I will be fine on the way there but the way home, maybe not so much ...

The school year starts for me August 15th ... May this year be filled with few surprises and more joy ...

Just wanted to say thanks to those of you who were praying for me (I posted on last month's prayer requests). It means a lot! Also, can you add me to the list of people getting married this month (Aug. 20)? Thanks!

My mom is still hanging in there, so that's a praise! I just keep praying she makes it to the wedding!

Lots of August weddings! I'll be praying for all of you girls, as well as the other prayers requests.

UPDATE: He got the job! Prayer: FI is at a job interview right now. He's been there for over 2 hours.. I'm hoping that's a good sign? Please pray for us- we are really hoping he gets this job!

Prayer: FI's mom's best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer on Monday. They are doing a partial mastectomy today. Please pray for her, her family, and FI's mom. FI's mom is very distressed.

Praise: I got a part time job today! I'll only be working 6 hours a week but with that, school, and my other part time job (tutoring), I'll have my hands full! I'm happy to get a little extra money and get the great discount!

Praise: I have an amazing, adorable new niece. Avigail Mercy. She looks just like my brother. He was able to come home on his R&R with the Army so he could be here for the birth of his first child. I can't wait to get to meet her next weekend when I go down to NC to visit them.

My FI and I are still praying about getting our apartment... We really love this place and would love to get it.

We also both have colds right now... thanks to my sister lol so prayer that we get over those soon too would be great!

Someone got a hold of DH's credit card information. As if that wasn't bad enough, whoever got it used it to purchase a LOT (like hundreds of dollars worth) of internet porn. DH had to go online to these sites to get them cancelled. He feels really gross about having to do that, to the point where he's vomitted a few times. Please pray for peace for my DH. More selfishly, pray that we're able to get all the money back.

Prayer: We found out recently that we have to pay for FI to go to school (he didn't get a scholarship he had last year), so money is going to be really tight. We feel very strongly against taking out loans, so we're gonna just make it happen. Also just for school starting soon in general. Part of me is ready, but another part is not.

Prayer: That I can stay focussed on what I need to do with work, wedding planning, and school.

Prayer: I applied for a much better job (like double what I make now) at a church. it would be so good if I get this job and take alot of money stresses away.

I have what might seem trivial or silly, but for those who've been through home remodels (or even had a fiance/spouse who had opinions on wedding planning!) you'll understand:

Praise: H and I came to an agreement on our living room remodel! We actually were able to pick tile for the hearth and fireplace surround as well as for the countertop portion of the built ins AND we agreed on the mantel. It's a modern day miracle, I tell ya!

Prayer: We're moving on to the back patio. Right now we have a deck, which we want to tear out and install a stamped concrete patio in its place. I'm working on getting quotes for that; please pray for guidance as we choose someone to do this work for us. It's scary to commit to something like that without personal referrals.

At the Indiana State fair the Main stage collasped... 5 people were killed and 40 more were injured... I had about 6 friends at the stage at the time of the event of them are fine... but can we please keep those families and people in our prayers who were not fine...

Prayer- One of my friends from college is 24 weeks pregnant with a little girl. At the 20 wk ultrasound, the doctor was concerned about genetic issues, and 2 weeks later, after mulltiple ultrasounds and tests, Annalise was diagnosed with Trisomy 13. Down Syndrome is Trisomy 21, but Trisomy 13 is fatal. They gave Annalise a 10% chance of making it to term, and a less than 1% chance of living for 7 days. M posted today that she hasn't felt the baby moving as much the past few days, and not at all yet today. Her husband is also a youth pastor and they are not near family right now.

Praise- My cousin and her husband have been in the adoption process for about 6 years now, after being told they couldn't have children. They now have a 2 1/2 year old, and she is pregnant with girl #2, due in September. A few months ago, they FINALLY received a referral from the adoption agency, and today received their Final Decree. They're bringing Saraiah home from Taiwan around Christmas!!!! This baby turns 1 on September 18th, just a few days after my cousin's due date. Also, her husband just found out he's deploying with the Air Force in May. She's going to move closer to my family when he leaves, but prayers for them, as well

She was in my college sorority, and though I did not know her (she joined the year after I graduated), this comes less than a year after another girl (that I did know) in the sorority died last October. I can only imagine what these ladies must be feeling losing 2 of their close friends and roommates within a year.

Please be praying for my brother. He moved out of my parents' house (about time, IMO-they need to stop enabling him), but still has no job, and after being incredilby cruel to my mother, is not talking to her. She is devastated, and I'm worried he may end up homeless since he refuses to get a job while he is looking for a "career". I'm so disappointed in him, but I think there is depression and possibly other health issues making him act this way.

Update- The baby passed away on Tuesday. M is being induced today to deliver. Please continue to pray for them.

Emily - that's so sad. I'll be praying for them, for sure!

I have a prayer request. My mom is having thyroid problems. Her doctor found that her thyroid was enlarged and ordered an ultrasound. According to the ultrasound, she has a 2-in nodule on her thyroid. Her endocrinologist said that a 2-in nodule is cancer (he didn't even need to biopsy). Then he looked at the films and felt her neck and ordered another ultrasound because he is not convinced that the ultrasound shows a large nodule (he thinks it may be a shadow). She goes back Tuesday for ultrasound #2 and the Dr. will be present. I will be taking her for the appointment.

PLEASE PRAY THAT THE FIRST ULTRASOUND IS WRONG and that it is not cancer. My mom has shingles right now and I think it is caused by stress regarding her thyroid situation. Please pray for healing for her for that too. She has been in a lot of pain.

My cousin's mother in law posted last night on FB that my cousin and her husband went to the ER with complications from her pregnancy. Got a chance to exchange a few texts with my cousin earlier and she miscarried at 5 months. I've been on the outs with my cousin most of my life, so the fact that she told me is crazy in and of itself. Please be praying for her and her husband. Both for physical and emotional healing.

My cousin had her second baby, a precious little girl, on Friday. Yesterday the doctors heard a murmur in her heart and discovered that she has a hole in her heart. Apparently this is semi-common, and usually grows in on its own, but she is still asking for prayers. The baby's name is Kylee if you want to pray for her by name.

sessions, I'll be praying for Kylee. My cousin, Michael, had a hole in his heart. He was about 4 months old when they did surgery to correct it. He played sports all growing up and is now a successful businessman who just celebrated 1 year of marriage. I hope that story gives you hope for sweet Kylee!
