I'm gonna AW a little bit - a quilt I made

It's for my FDIL. I was worried about the colors, but I love how it turned out.

The back is a medium shade of green. It's hard to see the detail, but the stitching thread is variegated greens that match the front and back.

Yes, it's a hobby. I haven't figured out how to make a living at it yet (but I wish I could). It took about 12 hours to cut and stitch the quilt top.

Awesome! Did you quilt it yourself or send it out? I just gave actual quilting a go last weekend, and man, it did not turn out well. I got three whole lines of quilting done (I was doing vertical line quilting with a walking foot) before I decided to rip 'em out and start over.

That is beautiful!! You did an amazing job!! I started quilting when I was 8, and it has become a hobby, and it doesn't help my mom owns a quilting store...needless to say I have a LOT of unfinished projects!

LC - my little Singer Featherweight machine can't handle the finishing on something this large, so my friend does that with her awesome longarm machine. I would really like to have one someday so I can finish my own pieces.

LesPaul my mom gets them done too, Longarms are worth an arm and a leg! Just like these quilts. I'm lucky my Mom makes them, because I couldn't afford one.

Meg - and you almost need an entire room for a good longarm. Someday . . . .

I can finish a table runner or crib quilt on my machine, but nothing larger.

My mom had a quilting room and a longarm. It's a great hobby, I wish I could do it.
