Married outside in July!

Re: Married outside in July!

  • Hand fans, staying hydrated, tent or shaded area, keep the ceremony as short as possible.

  •      Maybe make your programs the panel fan variety. Also, have bottled water for your guests. If you wanted you could even have parasols for your guests.

  • We had an outdoor summer wedding.  The reception hall was open for the guests to be in the AC until the ceremony began; iced bottles of water were provided.  Pastor asked everyone to move to the lawn in front of the gazebo and guests were encouraged to bring their water with them.  It was a 20 minute ceremony and guests were immediately able to go back inside for the apps while we did pictures.  We also had pape fans available.

  • Make sure your guests know it will be outside. Make sure there is a cool, shady place for any early arrivals to hang out until the ceremony, especially if the chairs for the ceremony will be in direct sunlight. (Or, as PP suggested, an indoor location with AC!)

I've chosen to ask our guests to dress in semi-formal/dressy casual attire, so the men won't have to wear suit jackets and the women can wear shorter dresses/skirts.

  • We are also getting married outdoors at the end of July.

Our programs are going to be fans and we are going to set up the ceremony under a relatively large tree so many of the guests will be sitting in shade. We're going to set it up almost in the round so it is a smaller, more intimate circle. That way we don't need to worry about microphones or anything eithe and we will be able to keep most people in the shade.
Our invitations do say "in an outdoor ceremony" so people are very aware of that.

At the moment our plan was to have bottled water available after the ceremony for family and the bridal party who have to stick around for photos. But I am thinking it may also be a nice idea to have a couple of large tubs filled with ice and bottled water and maybe lemonade or something in case people want it.
We will make that decision closer to the day when we know whether it is going to be scorching or not.

As an aside, my fiance is renting an extra shirt with his tuxedo because he sweats a lot and knows after the cermeony he will almost certainly want to put on a clean shirt.
