3 things each.

Re: 3 things each.

  • awesome:

H and I are starting to plan renovations. Exciting stuff!

    less awesome:

Some of my PhD research has been cited and used in a way that I'm not completely happy with. I guess I have to get used to this as a researcher, but it's a current frustration.

Ok, so those aren't three points, but I'm too tired to think of anything else!

  • Thanks! I can't even tell you how many times I tried doing it and it took up the ENTIRE monitor!

[QUOTE]PS- Where's a good place to buy a (cheap) heart rate monitor? I think I'm guessing too much and one of those might help.

I have a polar F6 and while mine was a gift, a lot of people on GIS have gotten the same one for sale on amazon for around 80$. Really though, as long as you get something with a cheststrap, theyre the most accurate.

    Planning
  • Good- It looks like I will be able to graduate next Spring as planned, even though I just added my second major this year.
We adopted our cat this last week and all of the animals are adjusting really well. It has been way less stressful than anticipated.
I've solidified my Senior Thesis topic, and I'm really excited about it.

Not so good- FI's unexpected root canal last Tuesday cost $1,200.
We just spent $1,100 fixing his truch, and it is in the shop again. Ugh.
I need to do some follow up heart tests, and I can't afford it right now.

  • Good:
    1. Dad's cancer is back in remission

    Bad:
    1. I don't have a job, most hospitals in the state aren't hiring new grads
    2. FI works a lot and I don't see him that much
    3. We've been thinking about calling off the wedding and just eloping since we're not going to be able to afford the wedding we want any time soon

  • Cac- I'm so glad your dad is doing well!
I'm at the planning point where eloping sounds like a good idea too. I think it could be very sweet and romantic if that is really what you want.

  • Cac - Yay for your dad, and I feel your pain on the expenses. I went to my routine cleaning a few months ago and left with my estimate for work that needed to be done. AFTER insurance, I would still owe almost $2k in dental work, plus the cost of a root canal which would be $1k-$3k after insurance.
I'll admit, I started crying out of stress right at his front desk. This was also 4 days before closing on the house so not the best time to get dumped with those kind of bills.
  • Good:
    * I just started a new job this past week and I think I'm gonna like it, even though it's just an in between job to hold me over until I get my certification switched to IL from KY.
    * FI and I recently joined a church that we both really like. We've talked about it for a long time but we never found anything that felt right for us.
    * FI's family's fishing vacation is only 2 months and 3 days away! I have definitely been counting down since we didn't get to go last year.

    Bad:
    * My knees were doing so well at the beginning of the week and now they're getting bad again.
    * I want tacos and I'm too lazy to make them.
    * FI's having a real hard time finding a job since we moved. His district manager was supposed to put in for his transfer but then backed out at the last minute leaving FI with nothing.

  • Um first, hello stranger!

Great: my sister's getting married, our dogs' behavior has greatly improved with training, and we have awesome friends.

Shitty: I'm underpaid, I'm getting tired of apartment living, and my uterus aches. Constantly. But I count myself lucky if those are the three shittiest things in my life.

  • Good: It's been great hanging out with H this weekend thus far.  We've cleaned, run errands, gone to Iron Man, all good things.

We didn't go for a walk today because other stuff got in the way and I really wanted to go for a walk.

We've saved a fair bit of money for a new car for me.

Not Good: We're staying home tonight because my stomach is being intermittently super ookey.

Our apartment changed its candle rule.  Now I have no idea what to put on the tray on our kitchen table.

We still have lots of debt that I find really difficult to deal with sometimes.

  • Awesome:
    My amazing new job.
    The 8 lbs I lost.
The fun I had in Miami last week.

    Not awesome:
The value of my rental property in Detroit.
The people that won't move out of it.
Wow...that is the only thing in my life that really sucks right now!
