Fashion Help Please!

Need opinions, please  So this is my dress. Its the Casablanca 1959.  I find it a wee bit too simple, I'll be adding a brooch pin and perhaps a pleated tea rosepink sash.

Just as an example, something like this:

I really hate the way those froofy veils look on me and had wanted to do a birdcage veil with a flower in my hair. But I'm thinking it may look a little overdone with everything on there.

But I don't know. I tend to go with simplicity, but I'm not sure if I'm just being silly and it will be fine. If its too much, I may want to do just a simple drop veil:

FWIW, I don't think your dress is too simple.  I think a simple brooch would be all you would need.  If you did a bird cage veil, I think I'd keep it fairly simple as well, the one you posted I think would overpower your dress.  Not to confuse you, but the drop veil would be very nice with your dress as well.  I may be a little biased though, because like you, I tend to like simple things as well.

    Good luck!
  • I vote brooch, chandelier earrings, NO necklace, and a drop veil!  You'll be perfect.
  • Thanks bbyckes and Jenny.

Defintiely no necklace and yes to chandeleier earrings!  :)

What about a flower in my hair? I'm marrying into a Puerto Rican family and would like to just give them a nod; plus its an outdoor garden wedding.

  • I like the flower in hair idea very much.
  • its almost like my dress. i love it. i'd dress it up with the earrings girl! put it on again with make up and jewelry before adding stuff, you just might like it as is :)
  • I like adding a brooch, no sash and if you're into birdcages, go for it!

I always like hair flowers :)
  • Look at this sash: http://www.etsy.com/listing/45310701/lolita-bridal-sash

I think it would look great with chandelier earrings and a small white flower in your hair- no necklace and probably the birdcage, but a more simple one than pictured above?

    Good luck!

    Ok so it is decided:

Dress with brooch (no sash), definitely simple birdcage veil (the drop veil annoyed me and reminded my sisterof Laura Ingalls lol), fresh flower in hair (opposite side of brooch) no necklace, drop earrings and my pink shoes.

    Yay!

The lady at the bridal shop this afternoon said, "Look, birdcage veils are very right now. But how are you doing to feel when you look back 20 years and see your pictures?" She and my sister also said, "You cant wear them over your face!  How are you going to see? And what about the reception? You're just going to take it off"

Like, WTF. I mean the traditional veils are nice but good Lord, have these people ever seen something thats not cookie cutter?  Of course you can wear them over your eyes and yes I'm just going to remove the combs and leave the flower in. It's just boggling to me.  /rant!
