Short one bridesmaid dress! Ann Taylor Galaxy size 8

Ladies,

I am in quite a bind.   One of my bridesmaids ordered an incorrect size from Ann Taylor and when she went to return it  (a few weeks later) they were completely sold out of the dress, and any other dresses in that color (Galaxy).   The dress she has is one size too small (a 6, she needs an 8).

I need some creative ideas of what to do!   I've looked on Ebay, I've called to complain to the store.....does anyone have any recommendations or tips?  And if we don't get a dress...what do we do?   Have mis-matched bridesmaids?  I feel frustrated because I have not asked a lot of my girls, and getting their dress is one of their primary responsibilities....sigh.

Ann Taylor couldn't call any of the other bazillion Ann Taylor's in the country to see if they have it in stock?

Is this from their Celebrations collection?  Some stores actually carry the collection in the store (King of Prussia Mall in King of Prussia, PA) for example.  Meaning, they could still have some in their stores even if Ann Taylor Central (hehe) doesn't have it.

I'd call around to other Ann Taylor's in the area (or anywhere!) and see if they have it.  If they do, ask if they'll put it on hold for you or mail it to you.

EDIT:  oh... I just realized that many of the bridesmaids dresses are online exclusive.  They've changd their system over there and I'm out of the loop.  So sorry!  If this is the case for your BM dress, then I'd try the Trash to Treasure board on the Nest, ebay, etc... or, put her in a different BM dress.  I'm so sorry :-(  Is going to a seamstress and taking the dress out a size an option?
  • yeah i hear ya.  thanks for the tips....i shared them but she thought any alterations or custom dresses woulc cost too much....so fingers crossed new ones come in before.

its my FSIL soooooo definitely wouldn't consider kicking her out  :)   hopefully it will just work itself out, but glad to vent here and get some ideas to share with her.
  • Even if she's concerned about cost, she should still go to a seamstress and ask.  It might be less than she's expecting.

GL finding it or a similar dress though.

  • Have her look at seamstresses who work from home.  They tend to have relatively inexpensive prices.
