Bridal Shower Gift Idea. Tacky??

Hello,

My 2 brothers' girlfriends and my Mom are throwing me a bridal shower/bachelorette party.  I would like to get them each a massage for a gift.  I was thinking of a gift card, but I think the massage would be better for them.  Anyway, here is the dilemma....  You can get AWESOME deals on groupon/living social etc...  I could save a ton of money and get each of them a voucher for a massage - but the voucher shows that it was a "deal".  I don't want to look cheap, although they know I am!  But they use those sites as well to save money, so they appreciate good deals as well.  What do you think?  Is a prepaid voucher for a massage printed and bought as a "deal of the day" type gift ok?  Or cheesey?

Thanks!

  • I think it is a good idea!  I wouldn't mind getting a groupon massage.  To me a massage is a massage, I don't care if it was a "deal" or not.

  • I bought my girls groupons... i think as long as they know its an actual massage, not just a coupon.. you should be good!! :)
  • A massage is a massage. I don't think my friends and family would care that I got it cheaper - they would still be reaping the benefits!
  • I definitely agree that you should go for it! Why not save money where you can? They'd have to be crazy to expect you to pay more for the same thing just to present it in a different way. :) You could maybe package it in a cute way or something if you wanted it to be a little nicer.

  • If they like massages, and they know you are a bargain hunting type of person, go for it.  I don't think it's tacky at all.  In the end, they still end up with a massage.

The only thing I'll say about Groupon, though, is to read the fine print.  If the massage is only good Mon-Thurs (I've seen tons of offers that are only good during the week) during times that they're supposed to be at work, I wouldn't bother.  You don't want them to have to take a day off work in order to be able to redeem your gift, ya know?

  • I see why you're asking this question, but we live in a day and age where everyone is trying to save and be frugal. These ladies know you're planning a wedding and will appreciate you finding ways to show your gratitude, yet buy a deal when you see one. I'm sure they'd rather there son/brother marrying someone like you than someone who just spends without thinking.
