NWR: What did you go or what are you going to school for?

Re: NWR: What did you go or what are you going to school for?

  • I'll be graduating in December with a Marketing/Advertising degree from Indiana State. To be honest, the closer to graduation I get the more I worry about my "grown up job"...but the FI might be taking an over seas teaching job = us living abroad. If this happens I have no idea what I'm going to do...I can't just be a bump on a log and I'm definitly not the sahm type...hmm...

I have a BBA.( general, minor in Law) As soon as that was done I got KU with DD right away ( at 22) Got accepted for my masters but could go ahead with it.

After I decided to quit working and stay at home with DD I am slowly attempting my MBA. I do a max of 2 courses at a time.I only have naps and bed time to do work in so anymore than that it is hard to  manage both home life and school work.

I always planned on doing Law school after my masters but now I have no clue what I will do after this.
  • It's interesting that there are so many soc. majors here! I love it!
Diana, I agree. It's not anything I can actually outright "apply" as a skill, but I am well rounded and can approach any job with a different view because of it..

plus just oh my so interesting! I miss my undergrad soc courses so much.

  • I work at a hospital in an outpatient psychiatric facility as a case-manager.  I have my BA in sociology, and will be FINALLY starting my master's in rehabilitation counseling this fall.  It took me a long time to know that I wanted to stay in the field I've worked in most of my adult life.  Up until now, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do "when I grew up" so I wasn't willing to commit the time and money to get my master's.  Lots of soul searching over the last year has led me to believe that I'm making the right choice. :)

  • I have a BS in Arts Management with a concentration in Theatre Arts. It gave me a good background in business and led me to my current career in Non-profit management, where as I work as a Development Director (fundraising). I'm hoping to start a dual MBA/MS program in the fall.

  • This question actually makes me hyperventilate. I am currently going to school for a BLA Elementary Education with an empahsis in English, and I work full time as a preschool teacher. I love kids and have wanted to work with them my whole life but...as I get further and further into my education I'm finding out that teaching isn't all it's cracked up to be. Bleh. Not to mention that my school schedule is stressing me out. I can no longer take classes online or at night because they aren't offered (pretty much only gen eds are online/night), and my job is a Mon-Fri kind of job. My FI works nights and I have no one to watch my son if I also work nights. So, I have to find a job that lets me work mornings and weekends, even though I'm really stressing about giving up my weekends.

I have no idea what else I want to do with my life. I don't have the stomach to work in the medical field, and everything else just seems dull. I'm having a major young adult crisis. Cry

  • I went to school for Interior Design. I'm 21 and have a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Interior Design. I have been out of school since last May and still have not found employment in my feild. Wishing I ahd gone for something else. Something more "techy" like business management or IT, web design. Anything else. Don't worry about not knowing what you want to do. Sometimes it's a good thing to slowly figure out what you want.
  • I got my BA degree in psychology and religion from a small liberal arts college in Michigan.  After graduating from college I went to graduate school in Indiana where I earned my Ed. S (Education Specialist) degree in School Psychology.  I am now in my sixth year as a school psychologist.  I mostly work with students in preschool through the 5th grade.
  • I'm finishing up my BS in Marketing/Advertising this December -- decided not to cram my last semester with the wedding looming 1 week after finals. However, the closer I get the less I know "what I want to do when I grow up" - so many things are up in the air right now. The FI might be taking a DoDs teaching job which would put us overseas for about 2 years. If that happens I have no idea what I"m going to do or how to keep progressing as a Masters is out of the question...
