Good morning!

Re: Good morning!

  • Amoro - Have you guys been to Sweden before?

Loopy - I can't even get out the bins to put everything away in until DH is up so you should be able to get a good headstart on me.

Rach - Glad you feeling a little better :)  Enjoy the coffee.
  • Jesus Gup.  I wouldn't leave the house if it were that cold!!  EEK.

Last night, I blew the circuit breaker, and H just looked at me like, "What do I do now?"  Uh... flip the switch?  "Where is it?"  Downstairs on our electical box.  "I don't know where that is." We walk past the damn thing every day!!! Fuuck it, I'll do it myself.  Then I noticed the thermostat was blinking.  Mentioned it might need new batteries.  "The thermostat needs batteries?"  Holy.Jesus.  I think the man would self destruct without me.
  • He goes there once a month at least for work, and he used to go there a lot with his other job.  I've been there once in spring but didn't really go anywhere other than Malmo.

Yes, dear, but you live in fucking cold ND. I live in the Deep South, FFS. We aren't used to it being this cold. Yeah, yeah, I grew up in the North, closer to the capital of Canada than my own state capital, and I remember those bone chilling -40F mornings, where the snot in your nose freezes every time you inhale.

    This sounds very unpleasant.

  • True sara. If I moved out of this glacier to somewhere warm, I'd probably get upset about cold days too.

    I love Malmo.

  • It is unpleasant. Scott just went outside to shovel for a minute and he was wearing long johns and his legs are PURPLE and frozen.

  • My BFF is coming to visit me today!  Woooo!

Annnnd it's really stinkin' cold here too, Fishy.  Sorry.  It sucks.  Sucks worse up there.
  • Julez - I may get a head start on you then... FI is sleeping on the couch now.  How bad would it be if I went into the kitchen and started unloading the dishwasher and re-loading with our dishes from the impromptu party we had last night?  I got to use my cute snowman/holiday dishes!!
  • If you unload the dishwasher as loudly as I do that might be a step too far.  I can't wait until we have room to store holiday dishes.  So fun!

Amoro - my H is the same way.  There are days when I wonder how he got through the first 26 years of his life.

  • I try to be quiet, but it gets really loud sometimes cause I'm bad at clanking all the plates and stuff together.  I guess I'll keep waiting.  A toasted bagel with peanut butter and strawberry jam is calling my name, but I'm comfy in my chair and don't want to get up and make it.

  • Julez, my mom is trying HARD to get to me to want and appreciate holiday dishes.

She gets me some every year and I just don't have the patience to completely switch out my dishes for a season.

  • I started buying these cute snowman dishes at the grocery store (stonewear... don't judge me) For like 3 years in a row I bought some when they went on clearance right after the holiday... now I have big plates, and little plates and they stopped carrying them before I could buy any bowls or serving stuff... and I can't find them online.  I need to try again this year.
  • fishy - I got 8 holiday accent plates and it makes it cheery enough for me.

  • My mom goes WAY overboard decorating for every holiday and that rubbed off a little bit on me.  Plus I really like any excuse to buy home stuff.
  • Okay, judge me, but I have 3, yes 3, different sets of china. "Regular" stuff is Blue Willow, which I realize puts me in the same category as a lot of your grandmothers. Suck it.
Holiday china is Winterberry by Pfaltzgraff. Thumbnail image for Winterberry
I use this from Thanksgiving until basically Lent. Formal is Princeton by Royal Doulton, a relic from my first marriage that isn't manufactured anymore.
  • I don't think I will buy or register for formal china... but someday, hopefully far far in the future, I want my mom's set.  I love it and I'm willing to wait for it.  But I'm super excited to register for square plates :).
  • Oh man, I love holiday plates! They're so fun!  We just used ours for Sunday dinners, not every day.
