Snarky Brides

I judge.......

I judge the mom in my mom-baby class who announced that she made her husband get rid of their TV and cancel their internet service so their (6 month old) son won't be exposed to "junk TV" and "Internet garbage". I don't think you should plop your kid in front of a Jersey Shore marathon, but there are some educational programs, and how are you going to educate him about what is going on in the world? By the time he can read them, newspapers will be a thing of the past.

ETA...and I missed that we did this already. My bad.

Re: I judge.......

  • I judge a FB post a friend of mine made this morning about not cheering for North Dakota State in the division one football championship game tomorrow.  She's a fellow North Dakotan.  NDSU is playing in Frisco, TX against Sam Houston State.

She goes "Sorry NDSU, I'm cheering for the other team!" and underneath commented that she just hated the Bison (NDSU's mascot).

I am a University of North Dakota alum, and UND and NDSU have been enormous rivals for decades - but hey, a ND team made it to the national championship, I can put aside that (heated) rivalry and root for the "home" team.

The reason I mostly judge this though - this girl doesn't even care about sports.  She doesn't watch sports.  She doesn't give a shiit about any of it.  When I post about the Minnesota Twins she'll say "Go Yankees!"  OMG.  YOU DON'T EVEN WATCH THE YANKEES.

She's just doing it to be an insufferable twat, and it's really irritating.

  • I judge people who think they are "New Yorkers" when they are not. Being born in or near NYC and living there until your parents moved to Jersey when you were 6 months old (and south jersey, at that) does not make you an expert on New York, nor can you tell people that's where you're from.

  • I judge everyone at work who thinks its ok to have a drunk, incompetent, lying coworker and that I am over reacting by changing offices.
It just makes me realise how little these women care about the stability of the company and how they would rather have a "slack" manager who lets you get away with murder than work somewhere that you are actually accountable for your work/actions. I have no problem being accountable, I am good at my job, I show up on time, I will have no problem with a more strict manager. Stop saying "you would never be able to work in an office like that" because I know you wouldn't be able to, you would actually have to work!
  • Thanks Marrin!

AATB, I don't get people who don't like sports. How can you not like them?

That is super weird that they would get rid of their TV. I mean, to each his own I guess, and I know people who don't have televisions. But to get rid of it because you don't want your kid to see "trash?" What about, oh I don't know, putting limits on what your kid can watch on TV? What a novel concept. Then again I would hate not having a TV. If anyone has seen Young Adult, the main character constantly having E! on in the background is totally me. Embarassed

I have no idea, lol.  I mean obviously - to each their own, I can't judge people who don't like sports because it's not everyone's cup of tea.  I just don't understand how people can say "Go Yankees" or "Go Packers" but never actually watch?  Makes no sense.

  • I probably wont have TV or internet when I have children, I mean...I don't have it now at home, I don't need it, H doesn't watch tv or use the computer so there is probably no reason for us to have it.
  • AATB - I hate those idiots that wear Yankees hats when they have never even watched a game too.

I had two friends who swore up and down that once they had children, they'd never drink alcohol again because "it wasn't safe for the kids."

I'm still not sure I understand that one.

Along these lines...I judge telling people that I am from New York and receiving the response of, "Oh, where in the city do you live?". Funny how there is a big ol' state attached to NYC.

I also judge my customers who think that because I am a female, I must have NO knowledge of the industrial supplies/fasteners that I am selling them.

Yuuup.  I had to do a double take on that one.

I judge my uncle's ex-wife, who is using their 5 year old son as a pawn.  On Christmas eve, when the family was gathered at another family member's house, someone turned the TV on to MTV and Beavis and Butthead were on.  Not that I would encourage a 5 year old to watch that, but he busy playing with some of his Christmas presents, not watching TV.  Well, my little cousin went to his mom's house the next day and told her that everyone was watching Beavis and Butthead, and how hilarious he thought it was to be named Butthead.
She is retaliating by banning our whole family from seeing him until Christmas 2013 and is demanding apology letters from 3 people.  Now, if she didn't parade a steady stream of men that she meets from plentyoffishinthesea.com in front of her son, I wouldn't be so mad.  But I kind of want to punch her in the face for being such a biotch.  She says that TV is bad for him to watch.  I would say him watching her change adult sleepover partners  on a monthly basis is probably worse than watching TV, but what do I know?

I judge the guy at the gym the other night who was on one of the ellipticals I wanted to run on in the theater room.  There's only 3 of the kind that works ok with my hips.  He ran on it for like 20 mins, which is all well and good, but then when he was done, he stood on the elliptical for a solid 5 minutes watching the movie.  He then took another 5 minutes to clean it because he was watching the movie.  I get it was a good point of the movie, but move youra ss over so I can work out.  You can stand at the back of the room if you want to keep watching.
